In Maths, we have been investigating  measure and tried measuring different objects around the school using our hands, feet, cubes and lollypop sticks. We learned that these are non-standard units of measurement, while rulers and metre sticks are standard units of measurement.

The last 2 weeks we have had visits from Zoe Gordon in school who shared her knowledge of French with us. We have been learning greetings, colours, numbers and animals.

We have been researching how to keep our teeth healthy and shared our knowledge with the dentist when we had our dental checks in school. We also designed posters to encourage others to look after their teeth.

We are busy learning sounds from our new phonics block and have been consolidating our learning  making words from playdoh, using ict games, board games and building words with our sounds on the magnetic boards.

Primary 7 weekly update

It was lovely to be back with all our friends again.

We started a new Numeracy topic on volume. We have been learning how to read volume scales on beakers and jugs in millilitres and litres, working out problems with volume and we have begun learning how to calculate the volume of cubes and cuboids in cubic centimetres.

In literacy, we watched a short persuasive animation and tried to work out the message it was showing us. We then looked at the different devices the animator used to persuade us and discussed how effective these were.

In art, we started using the new drawing pencils we got at the end of last term. We learned how to draw a realistic mouth.

Have a great weekend everyone.

P2/1 – Weekly Blog

To mark the end of their Circus topic, P2/1  performed their own Circus to the Primary 1 class on the last day of term. The boys and girls  worked hard practising their routines and deciding on the music they wanted to perform to. Well done P2/1,  your Circus was amazing!

P2/1 Weekly Blog

Primary 2/1 are now coming to the end of their Circus topic and this week have been busy practising for their own Circus performance. We set up our ticket office in the playground and sold tickets to the P1’s who will be the audience for our Circus next week.

In Numeracy, we have been learning about money, and our knowledge of adding coins of different amounts came in useful when selling our tickets.

Primary 2/1 Weekly blog

Primary 2/1  have been learning about electricity this term. They explored whether objects are battery, mains powered or solar powered. They have thought about how much they depend on electricity in their daily lives and made a pictogram to show their electricity use each morning. We found out that lots of people use an electric toothbrush!

This week P2/1 have been investigating the different stages in the life cycle of a butterfly. We wrote about the different stages and drew pencil drawings of butterflies. We then coloured our drawings  in with bright colours, remembering to make the patterns and colours symmetrical. We enjoyed taking part in butterfly yoga, moving our bodies through the different stages of the butterfly life cycle.
