Festive Home Learning: Part 1

On Friday I visited P1S, P4 and P5 and children shared with me their table decorations. They described what they used and explained how they made them. A big thank you to all who took part, they look fantastic! I look forward to visiting more classes this week.

Christmas Fayre 2017

On Friday we held our annual Christmas Fair, organised by our Parent Partners Group. The choir opened the event by singing some Christmas songs and all the classes had taken part in Enterprise projects which they sold at the fair. Our nurture groups, outdoor club and parent craft club also had stalls. Our P7 Young Leaders came along and worked at some of the stands and even set up their own nail bar. Thanks to everyone who organised the event and to all those who visited and donated to school funds.

Parents as Partners: P1-3 Gifting

This afternoon families and friends from P1, 2 and 3 joined us to receive their book bags and find out how they could use them at home. The children took part in a range of activities with their families, from writing stories, to crafting, learning to play new games and reading.

Thank you to everyone who attended the session.

P1m

This week P1 have started to create art for the hall.  Each class is making art to match a part of the song, ’12 Days of Christmas’.

P1m  have made a pear tree and a christmas partridge.

P1s began by creating the 5 gold rings.

We have learned some new diagraphs this week – ch and sh – that is when two letters together make a new sound.

In maths we have been adding telling the time on analogues and digital clocks.

We have been very busy rehearsing for our nativity and have started to write invitations.  Lots of us have important homework to learn our lines for the performance – keep practising.

P1-3 Buddy’s Gift Book Bags

There was lots of excitement in the infant department today as P1 received their Bookbug Bags from their P7 buddy’s. They looked through the bags together and P7 read them some stories.

P4 gifted P3, and P6 gifted P2 with their Read, Write, Count Bags. They explored the bags together and even found some games to play.

The P1-3 children will take their bags home tomorrow, and we have invited parents, carers and families along at 2:30pm on Tuesday to look through the bags with their child.
