P1m and P1s School Houses

P1 have been very excited this week to be sorted into their new school houses.  They are called Almond, Breich and Calder.  House points can be earned through lots of things and already some of us have been earning points.

Earn points for your house through:

  • being kind
  • holding doors open for others
  • working hard
  • picking up litter
  • being helpful
  • playing nicely
  • walking sensibly
  • following our golden rules
  • listening quietly
  • treating others with respect

Hello from P1m

P1m have had a fantastic first week at school.  Miss McLennan has been so impressed at how well everyone has settled in.   We have been very independent in the morning getting changed and putting our snacks and drinks in the right place.

Well done!

Welcome to Primary 1 at PUSCPS

Staff at PUSCPS are excited to welcome our new Primary 1 pupils into our school community. Below you will see a copy of the information sheet that was included in your induction pack, this will give you clear information about your child’s first week. If you are finding it difficult to see the image please click on it and it will enlarge the size.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday 22nd August!

A huge congratulations to Peyton Dervish in P1 and Calum Rose in P3 for their achievements at the West Lothian Young Writer of the year awards. They attended the awards at Howden Park Centre last night with their family and received a medal and prize.

Well done Peyton and Calum!

P1 life cycles

In science, P1 have been learning about life cycles and have completed fantastic projects at home to show their learning.

Mr Eagleson spent a fascinating morning seeing the P1 class confidently and clearly present their detailed and exciting work from home.

Well done P1, your confidence in speaking and your support of each other is great to see.

P1

Primary 1 have enjoyed all the different activities that they have taken part in for health week.

Kayden: I liked food tasting in the cosy corner. I liked how the onion tasted.

Layla: I liked the relaxation room as I got to shut my eyes when we were listening to the voice.

Ola: We were gardening and I got to plant sunflowers and potatoes and I liked it.

As part of our Farming topic this week, Primary 1 have also been learning about the journey of milk and the journey of sheep from farm to fork.

Health Week Carousel

After yesterday’s karate input our Health Week continued today with the first set of a series of carousel activities.  This is where each member of staff offers a 30 minute activity and pupils, in their Pumphie Pals groups, rotate around these.  On the carousel today and tomorrow are:

  • Meditation
  • The Eatwell Plate – food nutrition
  • Curling
  • Sun Safety (ironic today)
  • Healthy Lunchbox choices
  • making fruit smoothies
  • Dance
  • Hula Hoops

P1 Weekly Blog

Primary 1 performed their assembly today all about life cycles. The class had a great time sharing their learning. Thank you to all the parents and carers for coming to support us. Here is what some of the class said about our assembly:

Sophie-Rose: I loved doing the crazy frog dance.

Jack: I enjoyed pretending to be a caterpillar.

Kayden: I felt excited!

P1 Baby Chicks

Primary 1 have been very excited this week about the arrival of our chick eggs. 9 eggs arrived in their incubator on Monday. Nothing happened until Thursday when 6 chicks hatched! On Friday morning, another baby chick had arrived. So far we have 4 girls and 3 boys. We moved the chicks from the incubator into the brooder box this morning. We made sure to have fresh food and water ready for the chicks before we moved them.
