Arrangements for Monday

Good evening all,

As you will know by now our school and nursery are open on Monday 5th March.

On Monday breakfast club will be closed. There will be no milk available and pack lunch menus may vary from what has been planned.

Pupils should enter through the main school entrance, as close to 8:50am as possible.

Please take care when using the turning circle, as there are limited drop off spaces.

The main footpath to the school entrance is clear.

We will monitor the situation throughout the day and groupcall you about pick up arrangements for the end of the school day.

The nursery will open at normal times but there will be no breakfast club.

At the moment we presume that those who already attend P1-3 dance after school will be on, if this is cancelled we will groupcall parents in the morning.

There is further information available on the council website: https://www.westlothian.gov.uk/schoolclosures

We look forward to welcoming all our children back.

Kind regards,
Miss Burton

Primary 1

Hello Primary 1,

We hope everyone is having some fun in the snow or a nice warm day at home!

There are Winter Ready ideas on the blog already but here are some extra activities to try out today:

– dress up as your favourite book character like you were meant to do today.

– login to Sumdog and join our school ‘Snow Day’ competition. Check out where you are on the leaderboard!

– Can you make odd and even amounts of snowballs?

– check whether people in your family have an odd or even number of letters in their name.

– Build a super hero snowman like your Supertatos from yesterday.

– Make a mini book about what you get up to on your day off. You can include pictures and sentences. Bring it back into school to share with the class.

– Hide some objects in the snow and make a map for someone to find them. You could even give them directions to find things in the house.

– Read a book to your favourite teddy or toy.

– Take a photo of you reading in an unusual place and post to Twitter or the blog.

– Explore your Book Bags.

– Build some words or play a game with your sight words.

See you all soon,

Mrs Strachan & Miss McLennan 😁

World Book at PUSCPS

Don’t worry everyone – we will reschedule a date for you to come to school dressed as your character and let you know as soon as possible. The snow day will perhaps give you more time to think about your costume! We can’t wait to see them.

Assembly – Celebrating Our Uniqueness

Today at assembly we celebrated how we are all unique and that we should respect everyone for their uniqueness. We watched a video which made us think about we accept others for who they are.

Congratulations to Primary 3, who have completed their Fun Start Sessions with Broxburn United, and a big thank you to the team there for delivering the sessions.

A big well done to all our children this week who have been Living Our Values.

The House Points for the term so far are …

Primary 1 Stay Safe Online

We are learning to … stay safe online.

  • I can … name some things that use the internet.
  • I know … what to do if I think something is wrong.
  • I can … name adults that I can speak to.

We talked about what we like doing on computers or ipads.

Maisey – “I like playing ‘Minions’ on my ipad”

Connor – “I like going on You Tube”

Christopher J “He might see something he doesn’t want”

We heard a story about Smartie the penguin who got a new computer for his birthday.  Something popped up on the screen and he didn’t know what is was or what to do.  We talked to our partners to think of some help for Smartie.  We had a vote and decided he should tell a grown-up.

We learned a song to help us remember what to do:

Before you click, click, click

You need to think, think, think

AND TELL SOMEONE!
