Primary 1

Primary 1 have been learning how to write Christmas cards. We have written and decorated our own  cards for our families which will be ready to take home next week.

We also have a new post box at our free writing table and have been having fun creating and posting our own Christmas cards and letters.

Primary 1 Weekly Update

Primary 1 have been very busy this week rehearsing for our nativity, Whoops-A-Daisy Angel.  We have been working hard to practise our singing and act out our parts together on the stage. We are really looking forward to our performance!

Primary 1’s Castles

Primary 1 have been learning about the past through a short study of castles.  The children had the opportunity to learn about the parts of a castle and castle defences through designing and making their own castle.  They worked very hard on their castles so a huge well done!

Primary 1 Weekly Blog

This week Primary 1 have been effective contributors, working together in groups to design and construct a castle using wooden blocks. We were practising our teamwork and communication skills to share the blocks and build together. We were also able to talk about the different features of our construction and the shapes we had used. You can view photos of our work by clicking on our Sway link. https://sway.office.com/wLD1fQFIvoDsRjcA?ref=Link

Today we dressed up or down for Children in Need. We discussed how the charity helps children and designed our own Pudsey Bear faces.

We also received Bookbug bags and had the opportunity to explore the contents with our peers. We read Inch and Grub together as a class, making predictions about what we thought might happen next.

Primary 1

Primary 1 were successful learners this week because we were able to count up coins and add amounts together to find a total.

We have also enjoyed using real coins to buy items in our class shop and practising our writing skills to create shopping lists.

Primary 1

To mark Bonfire Night, Primary 1 used paint and coloured chalk to recreate the shapes and colours of fireworks exploding in the sky. We also talked about how to keep safe around fireworks.

Within numeracy this week, Primary 1 have begun learning how to use money. So far we have looked at the value of different coins and practised counting up 1p, 2p and 5p coins to find a total.

Term 4 P.E. Days

Thank you for your support with school uniform and our new approach to P.E. kit.

We would request that on P.E. days children wear to school:

  • white polo shirt/ t-shirt – with school logo or plain or blue school P.E. t-shirt
  • blue sweatshirt/cardigan – with school logo or plain
  • P7 – black sweatshirt/cardigan
  • plain black tracksuit bottoms/ joggers
  • black trainers
  • girls who are wearing a skirt over their leggings can remove their skirt on P.E. days
  • we would recommend that children don’t wear their shirt and tie on their P.E. days

In order to continue with our inclusive ethos and promoting our school identity we would request that children don’t wear branded clothing. We also have nearly new school polo shirts and sweatshirts that can be purchased for a small donation.

On non P.E. days children should wear their normal school uniform (this does not include tracksuit bottoms, leggings – unless with a skirt or jeans).
