RME in Primary 4

We have made a Yad, it is used to read the Torah scroll.

Primary 4 have been learning about artefacts from the Jewish synagogue.

This is what the boys and the men wear and they are called Kippahs.
We have made a Torah scroll with our school rules in it. It was pretty difficult because we had to write the letters backwards.

Primary 7

This week P7 have went back in time to the 20th century to learn about a part of history…

Can you guess where we went?

Here are some clues:

1914

Guns

Bombs

Tanks

H.M.S. Dreadnought

Shelters

Bosnia

Serbia

Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy

France, Britain & Russia.

We hope you can figure out what our topic is.

Please leave a comment so we know if you have worked it out.

Orchard report 21 Aug. 13

The orchard is looking great, although there are no apples yet.  One tree has been damaged over the summer, it looks like rabbits have been there. The grass has grown longer in the holidays with lots of clover. Primary 7 found a couple of 4 leafed clovers when we were litter picking.                                                   Holly and Amy Primary 7.

P7 Prom

Last night, Wednesday 26th June 2013, was the prom for our current P7 class.  The evening was a fitting celebration of these young people and all they have achieved in their time with us and they were joined by many of their family and friends for their special night.

They certanly know how to make an entrance . . .

They then proceeded down the red carpet to have their photos taken with their families and with each other.  Many thanks to Mid Calder Camera Club for taking this task on, we are looking forward to seeing the final images.

This was followed by a very successful ceilidh and a wonderful time was had by all.  Thank you to the PSFA  and especially Mrs Bonner for organising another fantastic event and thank you also to all our Primary 7 pupils and their families that made the whole thing possible.

A Golden Moment

As you all know Miss Jean Martin is retiring on Friday after teaching at Pumpherston & Uphall Station Primary School for the past 41 years.  As much I am sure she is looking forward to the next stage of her life I know that Miss Martin will miss being in the school and being with the children every day.  It takes someone very special to have  taught in the same community for 41 years and at a very emotional assembly in the school yesterday Miss Martin described the school and the communities it serves as ‘being like a special family’.  We will all miss her and wish her a very long and happy retirement.
