P1 Reflective Learning

This week, P1 were looking at our plants to see how they fared over the past few weeks. Each group started off with a healthy plant, and then we changed the way we looked after them to see what would happen.

Group 1 – Gave the plant everything it needed. We found that the plant grew taller, and that buds were slowly starting to open.

Group 2 – Took away light. We found that the plant stopped growing and the leaves drooped.

Group 3 – Took away water. We found that the petals and leaves dried up. It was a very thirsty plant!

Group 4 – Took away soil. We found that the plant had drowned as the water did not have anything to soak it up.

We were very close with our predictions! We have enjoyed learning about life cycles this term.

Also, a big congratulations to Summer Reid, who won our Commonwealth Art poster competition!

Til next week…

Art that looks good enough to eat!

Despite being a short week we have been very, very busy!

Art and Design

This week in art we have designed and made our favourite meal. You probably wouldn’t want to try to eat these meals as they are made from paper. Here are a few of our tastiest looking treats!

Numeracy and Maths

This week we continued to learn more about operations (+, -, x and /). We talked about function machines. On Thursday we all completed number triangles, which was fun. You can make your own – if you want to know how leave us a comment!

Achievements

Jordan was our winner for the Commonwealth Game art competition. This means that Jordan’s picture will hang in a bedroom in the athletes village. We wonder if Usain Bolt might be the lucky athlete who gets to look at Jordan’s picture.

P6 Weekly Blog

Well done to our  talented P6 gymnasts: Eilidh, Jamie Lee and Niamh  for their fantastic display last week!  They were so good perhaps we will see them at the next Commonwealth Games!

Talking of the Commonwealth Games here are some of our pictures which we hope will be picked to be entered into the competition to be displayed at the atheletes village during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in July! Good luck everyone!

P1 Feel the Pinch

This week, Primary 1 have been getting to grips with clay and making pinch pots. First, we made our clay nice and soft, then rolled it into a ball. Then, we made a hole in the middle with our thumb and pinched the clay around the sides to make the pot. We have left them to dry and are looking forward to seeing how they look on Wednesday. If you’d like to try to make pinch pots at home, you can do it using clay or salt dough!

Happy Holiday Weekend 🙂

Primary 4

This week in Science, Primary 4 have enjoyed learning about the organs of the human body. We looked at the position of the heart, lungs, brain, liver, kidneys and intestines and described the important jobs that they do.

We have also been working hard in Maths to develop our division skills. We know that we can use our times tables to find the answers and draw pictures to help us. There are lots of great games online to allow you to practise your division skills at home. Click on the links to play Division Mine and Maths Magician.

P5 Passover

In RME this week we were learning about the Seder meal, the special meal Jewish people have to celebrate Passover. We had a pretend Seder meal in class. We tasted some of the traditional foods which each remind us of part of the Passover story.  Matzah (crackers) and Charoset (chopped apple) were yummy, the horse radish was more of a challenge.

P7

P6 Weekly Blog

This week we have been drawing pictures about all of the sports which will feature in the Commonwealth Games which will be held in Glasgow  in July.  We produced our best work and we hope some will be selected to appear in the athletes village. Next week we will put up some of our finished entries for you to see.

We started our football training with Greg from Broxburn United Football Club. He is helping us all to lead a healthy lifestyle by making sure we eat healthily and take regular excercise.  We were doing  sit ups and wall presses to improve our personal fitness.  We have been given fitness homework to help us improve our levels of fitness.

This Friday Eilidh, Jamie Lee and Niamh will be taking part in the gymnastics display which will be held at 11.45. Good luck girls!
