Primary 2/1 have been learning about electricity this term. They explored whether objects are battery, mains powered or solar powered. They have thought about how much they depend on electricity in their daily lives and made a pictogram to show their electricity use each morning. We found out that lots of people use an electric toothbrush!
Primary 3
This week, Primary 3 began learning around their new topic linked to the Victorians.
Firstly, we looked at a picture and made predictions about what might have been going on:
We discovered that the painting above shows the coronation of a young Queen Victoria – she was only 18 when she was crowned queen! We also learned that the time period is known as ‘Victorian’ because it spanned across the time when she reigned as queen.
Currently, we are busy creating coronation portraits of Queen Victoria, using lines and basic shapes to build up her features. #effectivecontributors
Check in with us again next week to see how our portraits turn out!

This week P2/1 have been investigating the different stages in the life cycle of a butterfly. We wrote about the different stages and drew pencil drawings of butterflies. We then coloured our drawings in with bright colours, remembering to make the patterns and colours symmetrical. We enjoyed taking part in butterfly yoga, moving our bodies through the different stages of the butterfly life cycle.

P6 Weekly Update
Hello everyone,
Another busy week, so here is what we have been up to.
Literacy – We started the week by revisiting imperative verbs and recapping our knowledge of this through interactive stations. World Book Day 2022 was yesterday, where we were able to share our love of literacy and reading with the whole school and our class. We were given the opportunity to read for enjoyment, share our favourite stories with friends and show off our creativity. We were set a drawing challenge where we were asked to draw our favourite character from from a book of our choosing.
Numeracy – We have been focusing on squared numbers where we used our knowledge of multiplication to help us.
Maths – We have been developing our knowledge of information handling. We will be looking to develop this further over the coming weeks.
IDL/Topic – As part of our Human Body Systems topic, we have now moved on to investigate the purpose of the digestion system. This week we looked at the organs involved in this and will be looking into this further next week.
PE – We participated in a class Handball tournament, where we were asked to work collaboratively as a team, use positive language and bring together the skills we had learnt over previous weeks. We did a great job!
We also had pancakes on Tuesday for Shrove Tuesday! They were delicious!!
Have a lovely weekend.

As part of our Circus topic, P2/1 have been learning about the different acts you would find at the Circus. We talked and wrote about what kind of performer we would like to be. In art, we drew clowns and designed our own Circus tent.
In drama, we have been learning how to mime and had great fun miming the different performers.

Today, Primary 3 were thrilled to learn that they had won the PUSCPS Winter Games trophy!
You will remember our post from a few weeks ago showing our participation in the Games, run wonderfully by our P7 team. We tried curling, hockey, slalom, biathlon and snow planes. We worked hard to build up our points total and it has definitely paid off!
Miss McLaughlin is very proud of Primary 3 – well done for your hard work and effort! #effectivecontributors
P4 Blog: Week Beginning 21st February 2022
We have continued to read our class novel, Charlie and The Great Glass Elevator. We designed aliens, using adjectives to describe their features.
In PE, we have been working on our co-operation and communication. We worked with our teammates to design a new game, giving constructive feedback to eachother.
Have a great weekend P4!

PRIMARY 7 Week beginning 14th February
We all had a great, long weekend and came back on Wednesday ready to learn.
In Numeracy, we have been learning what perimeter is an how to calculate it. We have also begun applying what we have learned to word problems.
Our new IDL topic is on China and we have begun to look at what we know already, what we want to learn and what parts of the curriculum our learning will cover. There is a lot that we want to learn – especially what festivals, celebrations and events they have.
We are looking forward to another week of new learning.
