A place for news, information and sharing learning from PUSCPS
Along with all their sporting activities for health week, the boys and girls have been working really hard to prepare for their assembly. They really enjoyed sharing their learning about life cycles with the rest of the school and their grown-ups on Thursday.
Primary 1 have also been busy at home, creating models and pictures of different life cycles to present and explain to their classmates. Take a look at some examples below.
P5 have been increasing their use of Didbook. Â This is an online space for recording and reflecting on learning. Â Here is an example of what it looks like and a short entry from Jay in P5:
We will keep you updated on how we are using this later in the term.
P5 – P7 have all been given logins for Didbook and can access this from home.

Each term, teachers create a learning overview. Â This is sent home with each child and a copy can be found here. Â These are valuable sources of information to allow you to help your child at home with their learning. Â Communication between home and school is a central part of making a difference for all children.

Primary 1 are very excited about their learning next week as special visitors are coming to the classroom!
On Monday, live chicken eggs will be arriving for us to care for. We will learn all about the life cycle of a chicken and hopefully witness the chicks hatching too!
We talked about the things that we would like to learn about chickens and eggs next week.                     Here are some of our questions:
Kayden:Â How do the chicks get out of the eggs?
Eilidh: Why do chickens lay eggs?
Aiden: Where will they sleep at night?
Primary 5 are delighted to announce that they raised £133.85 on Tuesday.  This money will go towards buying some new toys for the playground.
Miss McLennan was very proud of everyone on the day.  They showed fantastic skills in using money as well as persuasive techniques in their sales.
Thank you to everyone for donating books or buying from our stall.
Today P5 had a book sale and they sold a lot of books to different classes.
They had stuck a lot of stickers with prices and made different signs for different types of books.
They carefully priced the books and categorised them.
P5 are raising money for new playground toys.

“We learned how to run stalls so when we’re older we can get a good job. Â I moved our class spaceship to the employability skill planet!” – Mya McPhail
Primary 1 have been learning about travelling safely. We learnt about the different types of crossings we can use to help us to cross a road safely and made a variety of crossings to help the characters on our classroom street. We later went out into the playground to act out how we would cross a road, remembering to stop, look and listen.
This week we have also been planting potatoes. We are looking forward to seeing them grow and in the meantime we will be watering them every day and hoping the sun shines to help them along!
“Next week I want to improve my maths by making it harder by challenging myself.” (Georgie, P5)
“The best part about maths was doing the adding chimney sums because I like adding and setting out the sums.” (Katy R, P5)
“I was successful when I was doing maths with Mrs Comrie because I was quick at it.” (Ewen L, P5)
“The best part about reading was being the illustrator because I got to make a poster” (Lauren, P5)
