Primary 7 weekly update
It was lovely to be back with all our friends again.
We started a new Numeracy topic on volume. We have been learning how to read volume scales on beakers and jugs in millilitres and litres, working out problems with volume and we have begun learning how to calculate the volume of cubes and cuboids in cubic centimetres.
In literacy, we watched a short persuasive animation and tried to work out the message it was showing us. We then looked at the different devices the animator used to persuade us and discussed how effective these were.
In art, we started using the new drawing pencils we got at the end of last term. We learned how to draw a realistic mouth.
Have a great weekend everyone.

P6 Weekly Update
We had a great first week back after the Easter holiday. We returned from our holidays in good spirits and enjoyed sharing our news through a recount piece of writing. We self and peer assessed this piece of writing which allowed others to see what we had been up to.
We have been focusing on growth mindset this week where we were set mini challenges, under time constraints. These tasks lasted for 5 minutes and challenged our own mindsets. We created posters for around the classroom with positive quotes on them. These will be used by the whole class when they find a task difficult or overwhelming and need some help to overcome their negative feelings.

Primary 3
This week, Primary 3 continued their Victorian topic.
We worked in teams to create Victorian characters and family names. Next, we explored common jobs during that period (e.g. steelworks, cotton mill, jute factory) and wrote applications for them. We then looked at clothing items and ‘dressed’ our characters appropriately for work. Then, we looked at tenement housing (our characters were moving to the city for better-paid, factory work) and built family homes from junk. #effectivecontributors
You can see each family home below!
Check in with us next week to see what we have been learning!
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

P2/1 Weekly Blog
Primary 2/1 are now coming to the end of their Circus topic and this week have been busy practising for their own Circus performance. We set up our ticket office in the playground and sold tickets to the P1’s who will be the audience for our Circus next week.
In Numeracy, we have been learning about money, and our knowledge of adding coins of different amounts came in useful when selling our tickets.
P6 Weekly Update
We have been learning what makes an effective summariser and predictor using our class novel to help us with this. We created a summary bubble and a prediction arrow.
We have been learning about the Circulatory system. We have been learning about how the system works and the role in which this plays in our human body. We investigated the heart and highlighted the importance of this in our body.
In Numeracy this week, we have been reinforcing our knowledge of division. We used the outdoor area to show off our knowledge and understanding.
We have been focusing on FRIENDSHIPS this week in HWB. We have discussed what is required to be a friend, what actions are expected in a friendship and the roles in which people can play as part of this.
Primary 1
Primary 1 has been learning about life cycles and how living things change and grow. This week we learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly and sequenced the stages in the process. We enjoyed watching a video about each stage and were very surprised to see the caterpillar shedding its skin before becoming a chrysalis. We also discussed the symmetry of a butterfly’s wings and used paint to create symmetrical pictures.
During numeracy time this week, we have be learning how to subtract one or two from numbers within 20. We have been using concrete materials and number lines to help us gain confidence.
Primary 3
Last week, Primary 3 began their portraits of Queen Victoria by using lines and shapes to sketch her. This week, we painted them!
We learned how to mix colours to create different tones and identify where shading should be (based on the original portrait). We then used coloured pencil to add finer details around the face. #successfullearners
Miss McLaughlin has been so impressed with our work, but what do you think?
Check in with us next week to see what we learn next!
