Singalong

Our nursery boys and girls have been working hard to learn Christmas songs for their Singalong on the 15th December. Some children were very excited to tell me that they had being doing their homework – singing the songs at home with an adult. Beautiful voices can be heard coming from the nursery and I am looking forward to hearing them on the 15th.

Primary 1

As part of our anti-bullying focus in school this week, Primary 1 have been learning about what bullying is and how we can get help if we are affected by it.  We made a poster to show ways to stop bullying.

Sophie-Rose: I would tell them to stop and if that doesn’t work, I would tell an adult.

Kian: I would tell the teacher and my Mum and Dad.

Responsible Learners

Primary 3 planned and prepared letters to send to our local garden centres to ask if they would be able to donate some bulbs for us to plant on the 10th December during our Tree Planting event. Maja and Matthew walked to the post office, bought stamps and posted the letters on behalf of their class. We hope to hear from the garden centres soon.

Primary 7

This week we  did maths. In maths we where converting  units of measurements. This will help us in our own time. The class found links from out side school and that shows our understanding of measurements.

This week for PE we played  badminton. In badminton we were learning how to serve and have a rally. At the end we played around the world. It was boys vs girls and the girls won 8 to 5.

On Wednesday  we went to watch the  Aladdin Panto at  Broxburn Academy.

We began making Reindeer Dust for the Xmas Fayre and we also started our Christmas art to decorate the hall.

In Literacy we explored setting and the meaning of words through a Michael Morpurgo book called Coming Home.

Primary 1/2

This week Primary 1/2 have been learning all about the emergency services. We had a visit from a firefighter who showed us all the equipment he uses and told us how we can keep safe if there ever was a fire. We also found out about the all the different types of rescues that the fire brigade can do.

We have been acting out emergency calls in Drama so that we know how to respond to an emergency and what to say when we phone 999. We took on the roles of operators and people who need help. After acting out different ideas, we then wrote our own emergency stories.

Here are some of the things that we learned this week:

Mayah: ‘Firefighters have a mask.’

Emily: ‘Firefighters save people from water.’

Olivia: ‘I learned how to add by counting on on my fingers.’

This week we had a really  good day at the science and technology day at Broxburn Academy.

In maths we were multiplying a decimal by a decimal using a strategy.

In P.E we were playing badminton with our partners and playing around the world. The girls were playing against Josh and the boys were playing against Ella.

On Wednesday we were learning about peer support with Mr Eagleson.

In Art we planned what we would do for our Christmas art activity and we also planned how we wanted to display our topic work.
