This week in maths we were using 2D nets to make 3D shapes. We made a cube, a cone, a square based pyramid, a cuboid, a triangular prism and a cylinder.
This week we were doing writing too. We were writing about a Christmas day and were setting a scene using the 5 senses: sight, feel, taste, smell and sound.

Primary 1 had great fun this week performing “A Wriggly Nativity”. Here is what some of the children said after the performance.
Sophie Rose: I was a bit nervous but excited!
Tyler: I loved bumping up and down to the camel song.
Layla: I enjoyed my Angel dance.
Ola: I liked picking up the baby and rocking him.

Boys and girls in the nursery sang the story of Christmas with narration from some P7 helpers. They also sung some good old Christmas favourites. They were fantastic and the parents and other family that came to see them were very proud. Well done to Mrs Hardie, Mrs Ness, Mrs Arthur and Mrs Montgomery too!

Our P1 pupils performed a fantastic nativity play “Wriggly Nativity” on Wednesday. The P2 and P3 pupils supported as the choir and they were great too.
Well done to all the boys and girls and thank you for the help at home and a huge thank you and well done to Mrs Strachan and Miss Cave with Mrs Campbell, Miss McLennan, Ms Ross and Mrs Stanton.
Jay and Samuel worked very hard to write Christmas Stories today. Both boys had a growth mindset and worked very hard to improve their work.
The outdoor club have made a fantastic job of creating winter wreaths to take home for loved ones. The pupils in the club collected Willow branches, wove the branches into a ring and then used a variety of winter foliage to create their beautiful wreaths.
P5 used iMovie to create videos introducing the ministers for their political parties.

This week Primary 4 were given free choice of a task to practise their spelling words. Murron decided to make tablets of clay and write her words in them. What a creative idea, they looked super and they seem to have helped her to learn her spelling. Well done Murron!
Pumpherston used to be a mining village and is on the edge of Livingston. We found this out when we were learning about our local area. We wrote reports and organised our information using subheadings.
We looked at Google Maps to find the school, the shops, takeaways, parks and train stations, then we created our own maps. Most of the class found it quite tricky because some places didn’t show on the map, this was because our map was missing lots of information.
Now we are looking at co-ordinates and directional instructions. We learnt that a quarter turn was 90 degrees and a full turn was 360 degrees. We played the game Turtle Pond and Battleships to help us.
Primary 3 have been learning to create maps of their story village. They had to imagine what a bird would see if flying above the village.
