The Nursery Have Been Learning French

We have been learning French words and phrases in nursery over the last term. We can answer “what is your name?” by replying “je m’appelle…..”. Count to ten and we know lots of colours. This term we have asked to learn  “All about me” We will learn about all our body parts from our heads to toes and will be singing our favorite song in French ” Head, shoulders, knees and toes” In French we sing “Tete, epaules, genoux, pieds”.

We can also answer yes or no in French when asked questions and can say how old we are. We are beginning to learn the days of the week and know that French is on “Vendredi” (Friday)

Mrs Montgomery will be sending home some French words that you could help us  learn or learn  the words with us.

Lay a little egg for me!

P1 had a fantastic suprise when they arrived at school this morning. A mummy hen has left us 10 little eggs to look after. Two of the eggs had already hatched before we got in and there was another arrival after school today! They are desperate to say hello but Hopefully we get to see some pipping and hatching tomorrow. We have a boy and two girls so far. P1 had lots of super questions about the chicks.

More from ‘Chick Cam’ tomorrow …

Primary 5 STEM learning

Our STEM topic this term is to design and create a new healthy dish for school lunches.  We have been learning about Scottish and local produce.  We have interviewed staff from the lunch hall to find out the most popular types of lunches as well as collecting data from all the classes in school.  We are using this information to help us design new dishes.

Learning Intention

We are learning to design a new, healthy school lunch dish with Scottish produce.

Success Criteria

I can use Scottish/local produce in my design

I can use my knowledge of healthy foods to help me in my design

I can make my dish interesting

We have been researching ingredients and different produce found locally/around Scotland – we even found chillies being grown in Dumfries.  All the children are really keen to test their dishes to see how they taste.  I can’t wait either.
