Nursery Class of 2020!

It was a double celebration for our new Primary 1s last week.

They said goodbye to their nursery staff and received their nursery scroll and gift.

Then the had the opportunity to visit their Primary 1 classroom and meet their new teachers! They also received a gift from them to say we would be thinking of them over the summer.

A big welcome to our New P1s from everyone at PUSCPS!

West Lothian Sumdog Contest starts on Friday!

Sumdog’s West Lothian Maths Contest is almost here! It starts tomorrow at 8am, and finishes at 8pm on May 21.

Here are some things to keep in mind during the contest:

  • Students can play at any time.
  • For the score to count, the West Lothian Maths Contest activity must be showing in the green panel on the left of the student’s screen when they click to start each game.
  • Their scores are based on correct answers.
  • A class’s score is the average of the scores from all students from that class who take part.
  • To appear on the leaderboard, at least 10 students from a class need to play.

Parent/ Carer Self Evaluation Questionnaire

We would be grateful if you could please take 10 minutes to fill out our annual parent/ carer questionnaire. This will help us reflect on our successes for this session and improvements for next session.
You can complete one questionnaire per family or one per child.
You will find the link below, many thanks in advance.

P6 Answer… Into P1 Transition Questions

Good morning to our Nursery buddies and grown-ups!

There has been much excitement in the P6 Team this morning as they have finally found out who their nursery buddy will be! They are really looking forward to meeting them properly.

For a Health & Wellbeing task this week, P6 were asked to post responses to common questions that nursery children (or grown-ups) might have about starting school. They have worked so hard on this!

I have collated their responses into a video (link posted below). We hope you find it useful.

Miss McLaughlin & the P6 Team 🙂

Welcome to Primary 1 at PUSCPS! (Nursery Children)

This letter will be issued to our new Primary 1s this week!

We have been informed by pupil placement that you have a place in our school for Primary 1 – how exciting! We would like to welcome you and your family to Pumpherston and Uphall Station Community School.

The Primary 1 staff have made this Sway to give you a virtual tour of our school, if you click on the link you can see a Primary 1 classroom, our school building and most importantly – the staff who work in our school. If you are in our nursery, you might want to discuss the areas and people you already know.

We will match you up with a buddy who is currently in our Primary 6 class (moving into Primary 7). They will help you with finding your way, teaching you routines and being a listening ear. You will find out more about your buddy soon.

Transition into Primary 1 will be a little bit different this year. We have created a Sway that we will update each week with a transition activity. The Sway will ask you to complete an activity and either share a picture on your online journal or email to the school. We look forward to finding out more about you.

Your primary school years are some of the best years of your life and our staff are very excited to help you make those important memories.  I will be making a phone call to you over the next few weeks but in the meantime if you wish to contact us, please email us: wlpuscps@westlothian.org.uk
