In nursery we love learning outdoors. We have been learning about vegetables and how to look after them while they are growing. We have harvested carrots, potatoes, onions, peas and beans. This links to our rights and responsibilities – we have the right to eat healthy foods.
Am and PM Nursery Singalong
https://vimeo.com/195816379
Boys and girls in the nursery sang the story of Christmas with narration from some P7 helpers. Â They also sung some good old Christmas favourites. Â They were fantastic and the parents and other family that came to see them were very proud. Â Well done to Mrs Hardie, Mrs Ness, Mrs Arthur and Mrs Montgomery too!
Singalong
Our nursery boys and girls have been working hard to learn Christmas songs for their Singalong on the 15th December. Some children were very excited to tell me that they had being doing their homework – singing the songs at home with an adult. Beautiful voices can be heard coming from the nursery and I am looking forward to hearing them on the 15th.
Online Learning Journals
Our nursery and P1 Online Learning Journals are now live. Â You have received information on how to log in.
We hope you enjoy sharing your child’s learning through these journals and login regularly to view, share and discuss what your child is learning and the progress they are making.
We especially like comments from home being added to build a fuller picture of your child’s learning and life.
If you are having difficulty accessing the Journals please speak to your child’s teacher or Miss Morrison at school.
We will be providing further information in a few weeks to be sure that everyone is comfortable using the system.
We are over-the-moon about our fantastic Care Inspectorate report

News from the Nursery
Nursery news
The children in Nursery have been learning about our school rules, and telling each other how we make our school the best it can be. Have a look at their great ideas!
Scottish Government Consultation on Early Learning and Childcare
The Scottish Government has proposed to increase the provision of free childcare to 1140 hours per year for children who are 3 or 4 years old, as well as for 2 year olds whose parents/carers are on qualifying benefits and are eligible for the 600 hours free entitlement through the Children & Young People’s Act 2014. With this in mind we are conducting a survey exploring how parents would wish to use this increase. The results of this survey will help guide policy on early years child care provision. In order for the survey to produce representative results it is important that we reach as many parents of 3 or 4 year old children from as wide a variety of back grounds as possible, this includes those who do not currently use free child-care provision.
The survey is available at the following link. https://response.questback.com/scottishgovernment/childcaresurvey

The Christmas Extravaganza
Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun at the Christmas extravaganza today. It was a great success. Congratulations to the choir for singing so sweetly and starting the afternoon off in style. We sent a roving reporter round the busy stalls to record some of the activity for the Blog.Â
