Peep

PUSCPS’s peep group is open to all our nursery children accompanied by parents, grandparents or carers. We share ideas on how to support our children’s learning and the children spend quality time with their parent/carer enjoying songs, rhymes, listening to stories and craft activities.  Our group meets again tomorrow, Wednesday 13th February at 12.30-1.30 in the library. Please come along and join us!

School Photographs – 26th February

The school photographer will be in school on Tuesday 26th February 2019 to take individual and group photographs.

ALL PUPILS will be photographed individually and in family groups where applicable, unless contact has been made with the school prior to this date.

A “proof” of the photographs will be sent home to you to and there will be several different photo pack options to choose from, if desired.

Morning nursery children should arrive at nursery promptly on this day as they will be the first to have their individual and sibling photographs taken.

Afternoon nursery children should arrive at nursery at the usual time of 12.18pm and they will be taken for their individual and sibling photographs by their teachers during the normal session.

I have arranged for the photographer to take photographs of pupils with younger brothers and sisters who do not attend the school. These photographs will be taken on Friday 1st March in the library, commencing at 8.30am. There will be a time slot system in place for these photographs and the school will inform you of your time.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Music Time

Mrs Bradley is a nursery Mum and also a music teacher at Broxburn PS. We have been learning Scottish songs over the last few weeks and Mrs Bradley came to teach us some more.

Stamping our feet

playing the musical instruments!

Mrs Bradley had us stamping our feet to the music, we clapped our hands and patted our knees.

We used the musical instruments to play along to the Scottish tunes and played the instruments soft and then loud.

We learned a new song too!!

“Oor wee bairn can sook a bar of chocolate” ” Oor wee bairn can sook a bar a day” (music on you tube)

Thank you so much to Mrs Bradley. We had great fun

Scots Week in the Nursery

The children have had great fun this learning all about all things Scottish. They have had the opportunity to taste different Scottish foods. They have tasted haggis neeps and tatties. They have tasted oatcakes, raspberries and had porridge for breakfast.

Lots of the children have enjoyed listening to bagpipes. We have looked at the kilts and talked about the tartan pattern. Some of the children were interested in the bagpipe music and learned some highland dancing.

We have looked at the Scottish mountains, the highland cows and places in Scotland like castles and the Forth bridges. Maybe the children would like to visit some of these places.

The children have enjoyed this topic so much that we are still continuing to learn about Scotland, singing lots of Scottish songs, reading story books and learning the Scots words.

Scottish Celebration Assembly

This morning we held our annual Scottish Assembly to celebrate all things Scottish. It was fantastic to have older family members, family and friends join us for the celebration.

We welcomed two judges for the poetry recitals, Mrs Thom from our office and Mr Jenkins a local resident who is part of the Burns Federation.

Two pupils from each class were selected to present at the assembly.

The judges decided on one child from each stage from P2-7 to go through to the West Lothian Burns Competition in February/ March.

The winners were:

  • P2 – Jacob
  • P3 – Sophie-Rose
  • P4 – Eilidh
  • P5 – Aaron
  • P6 – Owen
  • P7 -Lauren

Congratulations to the children who performed but also to all the children who recited a poem in front of their class.

Two girls from Primary 4 demonstrated some Scottish dancing.
