Nursery Pop in and Play

A big thank you to all our parents and Carers  who were able to make it to our Pop in and Play  session today.  It was so good to see so many people that the children can share their play and learning with. The children enjoy showing people what they can do and this gives them a sense of ownership in the nursery. The children are proud of their achievements and Pop in and Play is an excellent  way to let them show what they enjoy and can do.

Parents had fun playing dominoes, building large structures with the large and small bricks, playing in the house corner, building the train track and spending fun  time with their children.

Care Inspectorate Visit

As some of you will be aware our nursery went through a Care Inspection today. The Care Inspection process and gradings criteria has changed from our previous inspections, and the gradings we have been awarded are recognition of all the hard work, commitment and the journey our nursery team have been on. I am very proud of our nursery team! Thank you to all the parents and carers who filled out questionnaires and had dialogue with the Care Inspectorate team, we appreciate your kind feedback. As always, we received lots of positive feedback and praise about our nursery children.  The report will be available within the next month or so and we look forward to sharing the findings with you.

Skype Fame for our Chicks!

Our chicks have become famous on Twitter today through our l live feed on Skype using Glow.

You can view the feed by downloading the app and clicking on the link: https://meet.lync.com/glowscotland/wlsarah.mcjimpsey/IV807O25

P3 and P7 joined in the Skype stream, using chat to ask P1 some questions about the chicks and suggest some names for the new arrivals.

We have been playing in our Nursery Police Station and Post Office

Over the last couple of weeks the  nursery children have been interested in the Post Office and the Police Station.

After reading the Jolly Postman book the AM children decided to send a letter to the PM children asking them lots of questions about their nursery day. The children walked to the post office and bought a stamp and posted the letter in the letterbox. A few days later the PM Children received their letter and wrote a letter back to the AM children buying a stamp and posting it at the post office.

The children have been using the post box in the nursery learning that they need to use stamps to pay for the postage. They have been using the scales to weigh their packages and that to post a letter they need to use the correct name address and a post code.

Lucy and Freddie asked for the Police hats and a Police Station.

The children have been looking at their fingerprints, Talking about the jobs the Police do and making looking towers to catch the “baddies” and a jail in the garden! The children are continuing to learn about the job the Police do and we may even have a visit from a real Police Officer.
