FLT3 cancelled this evening.

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this evening’s Family Learning Together session.

We wouldn’t take this decision lightly, however staff absence means it is not possible to go ahead.  A Groupcall email was sent this morning. Please accept our apologies.

Watch the video of our Tree Planting Day

Thank you so much to everyone who turned up this afternoon for our tree planting.  The weather was very kind to us and we had a fantastic time with a great community atmosphere.

Properly protected and cared for, the trees we planted today will enhance the appearance and safety of your school for generations to come and provide rich and exciting learning experiences for your children.

Christmas Fayre

Our Christmas Fayre on Friday was a great success.  Thank you for all of your good humour and generosity making it such a success.  We will have an update soon with the total raised for the PSFA school fund.

A huge thank you for everyone who helped out including many new members of the PSFA who were fantastic at their first event and we look forward to working with them on many more.

If you want to be involved in your child’s school, helping out the PSFA is a great way to do that.

School Choir

Our lovely school choir –  which opened our Fayre on Friday – sang at Edinburgh Airport today and had a great time entertaining the people travelling through.

We raised an amazing £285.49!  Well done to Mrs Campbell and her fantastic choir of children!

Certificates of Achievement

Every week teachers select one or two pupils in their class who have an achievement to celebrate. If pupils have successes from home to share they can do this at assembly on Tuesday or singing practice on Thursday.  Where possible, we try to post some photos of these achievements.

GRAB A SHOVEL – SPREAD SOME GRIT – 5 MINUTES TO A SAFER PLAYGROUND

boss-grit-bin

As you are aware our playground is icy.  Pupils love this and it is great fun.  In school we encourage pupils to explore different aspects of the world around them safely.

Unfortunately this is obviously not totally safe, and the enthusiasm for ice wears off, even with children, and they just want to run and play again.

West Lothian Council Policy is clear that a single path of entry is gritted to allow safe access to school but that playgrounds and other public spaces are not gritted as this would place an unreasonable demand on the facilities management workforce.

April Edwards, mum of a P1 pupil, and a member of your Parent Council approached me with a novel solution which I think is a great idea and could work – with your support.

On Monday we will receive a delivery of grit-salt which will be in the playground.  There will be a selection of shovels in the shed and some High-Visibility reflective vests.  In order to all work together to solve the problem, which so many of you have discussed with me, we need to muck in – grab a shovel – and spread the grit on the playground.

Five minutes of your time in the morning, or after school would see us working together as a community to fix a problem. What a great idea, and a great chance to be involved in supporting your school and all of our children.  I hope you agree that this is a practical, community-based solution to a problem which we are not able to fix alone.
