Gardening Help Needed – 9 June from 11am onwards.

As you know, as a school we have been working hard this year on developing our outdoor space to make our school look and work better.  All pupils benefit immensely from exploring, playing, learning and developing in the outdoors.
As we are nearing the end of the school year there are a number of jobs in the garden we want to get finished before the long break and we need your help,
On Friday 9 June we want families to join us in getting some jobs finished in the garden, including building a compost bin and painting the shed.  We would start from about 11am and pupils can join in when they finish school.
I really hope you can find some time to help out, please let us know if you can make it, many thanks.

Vandalism

The police visited school this afternoon to look into some recent vandalism which has greatly upset our pupils and staff.  Our shed in the garden area was damaged, as were plants and other equipment.

We all work very hard in school to make our learning environment interesting and engaging and this behaviour sets all of us back.  Please ensure you reinforce the impact that this has on everyone with your children at home.

Sunny weather

The warm dry spring we’re having is a fantastic boon to getting the pupils out learning and growing in the sun. Mrs Pender has the classes out for PE today.

All skin is different so if you think it is required, please make sure that  your child has sun-cream on when they come to school and perhaps put a bottle in their bag for a top up. Please note that WLC policy means that staff can not apply sun cream to children directly but will assist pupils with self-application if required.

SCHOOL SELF EVALUATION.

Every year we produce a ‘School Improvement Plan’ (SIP) with priorities we want to work on that year and we share these with you. At the end of the session we report on progress through our Standards and Quality (S&Q) report and share this with you also.  One of our priorities this session was developing how we communicate pupil learning progress with home. We have developed this through three new initiatives:

  • Nursery-P1 Online Learning Journals,
  • P2-P7 Thinking Back-Looking Forward Profiles (sent out before parent appointments)
  • Families Learning Together Sessions throughout the session. (P2-P7 for the first three terms with P1 joining in after Easter.

In order to evaluate this we need your feedback and so have created a short Survey Monkey Questionnaire on these three new initiatives.   Every entry with a name will be entered into a prize draw to win a £20 Morrisons Voucher.  We really need your input.  Click the link below to access the questionnaire.
