West Lothian Burns’ Festival

Tonight, four pupils represented PUSCPS at the West Lothian Burns’ Festival. Miss Burton and Mrs Dickie were very proud of them all! Their hard work in learning their poems, together with their confidence at performing in front of a large audience, meant that they were a real credit to our school. Thank you to Miai, Rosa, Olivia and Christopher for representing PUSCPS. Thanks too to their families who came along to support them.

Families Reading Together

Today was our second session of Families Reading Together in our community library. Thank you to Moira, our librarian and our P7 Young Leaders for organising this. There is another session tomorrow after school, we look forward to seeing you then.

David Goutcher Author Visit!

As part of our World Book Week celebrations, David Goutcher the author of the Spy Quest books shared his journey of becoming an author with P4-7. He shared his inspiring story of how ‘Positive understanding supports confident personal success’ and how it is important to persevere in order to achieve your dreams.

He amazed us by demonstrating how his Sky Quest books use augmented reality through an app to transform the reading experience.

Those children who wanted to purchase a book got a signed copy. We have bought some of these books for our P4-7 class libraries and we have a few signed copies at the office for those of you who would still like to purchase one, on a first come, first served basis (costing £6.99).

A big thank you to David for coming along to share his story with us, and also to Glowworm Books. Thank you also to Brodie’s mum for helping to organise this event.

Tempest Family Photos Re-Scheduled

The family photos that were scheduled for Friday 2nd March have now been rescheduled to Friday 23rd March. Your previous time will remain the same. If you would like to be added to the list please contact Mrs Thom.

This will be a dress down day to raise funds for Magale, it will therefore be your decision if children come to school in their uniform and then change into causal clothes, or you might decide to have their photo in casual clothes.

Euroquiz

Unfortunately the West Lothian heats of this year’s Euroquiz, which were due to take place tomorrow, have had to be postponed due to the snow.  Hopefully this will be re-scheduled soon and our P6 quiz team will be able to put all their hard work to use.

If the team have access to the internet, then they could go onto the website we have been using to practise some of the activities.   http://europa.eu/kids-corner/countries/index_en.htm

Another idea might be to watch the news or read a newspaper to find some topical information about Europe. You could also practise your french with a friend or family member.
