P2/1 – Fairyland

Fairyland

The Frog Prince visited P2/1 to let us know that there were problems in Fairyland and he needed our help. The 3 little pigs had lost their home and needed help finding somewhere to stay.

We made new houses for the 3 little pigs using different materials. We enjoyed it so much, we then made our own characters from the story and performed a puppet show in class.

Fairyland also needed help finding The Gingerbread Man so we talked about interesting adjectives to describe him and then made a “wanted” poster that could help track him down.

After reading the story, the Elves and the Shoemaker, we found out that the Elves needed some help measuring the feet of some Fairyland characters. We measured these in class by counting squares.

The Elves also gave us a special design job. We had to create a pair of shoes for Cinderella to wear at her wedding to Prince Charming.  Cinderella was very fussy and wanted certain things on her shoes, so we needed to make sure our design had all the things she wanted.

P2/1 have had a great time helping Fairyland!

Be an Author – Book Week Scotland Competition

Last week we set all classes a free writing competition inviting them to create a piece of writing on any theme or in any style for Book Week Scotland.

Our house and vice captains had the difficult job of judging the competition this week.

P1-P4/3 created theirs on paper, and P4-7 uploaded theirs to Teams.

Congratulations to all our fabulous authors!

P1 Book Pen Pals

P1 and P2/1 had some very exciting mail this week.  We received our first postcard from our new Book Penpal, Sophie Ambrose!  We loved reading about Albie, the warthog in her book ‘Bedtime for Albie.  We even had a shot of becoming illustrators by drawing Albie. We hope you like our pictures.  We will write you a postcard soon next week.

Book Week Scotland Dress Down

A gentle reminder that children can come to school dressed as a book character for Book Week Scotland on Friday 20th November (tomorrow). If they would not like to take part in this event, we would request they wear school uniform as normal. There is no donation for this event.
