Nursery Information Evening

Pumpherston and Uphall Station Community Primary School (PUSCPS) Nursery Class are holding an information evening for new parents and carers on Tuesday 26th June at 5:00pm. The nursery would be delighted to welcome any parents/ carers who applied for a place at PUSCPS Nursery. However, the nursery advise that attending the event does not indicate that a place has been granted for your child.

Primary 6 Transition Challenge

Well done to Primary 6 who today presented to Primary 5 to explain what life has been like for them as Primary 6 pupils! They worked in teams to use resources, discuss, brainstorm and collect ideas, before planning their presentations. They presented on the expectations, routines, responsibilities, learning experiences and ‘magic moments’ of Primary 6. By doing this, P6 were learning to help encourage learning and confidence in our P5 children, as well as supporting them as they prepare for their next stage at school. The children from Primary 5 were all very interested and asked lots of questions about life in Primary 6! Well done P6, it was a really excellent presentation.

New P1 Families Dine Together

Meet the Teacher (for pupils) and Dine Together:

On Tuesday 19th June at 11:00-12pm we invite all our pre-school pupils to meet their new teacher and class. Following this you will have the opportunity to sample a school lunch with your child (from 12:00pm-12:30pm). A lunch order form and more information will be given out at the induction evening.

Transition

It’s that time of year when we start thinking about moving on. Our Primary 7 and pre-school children have already started their transition journey over the past few weeks and months.

Transition Challenge

As part of Health Week,  P1 – P7 have been set a transition challenge to teach the new children coming into their stage about their learning, achievements and events this year.

Here is an example of the P7 challenge:

Here are the P6s hard work completing the challenge:

  • P2
  • P3

*This is our current structure, however we are still awaiting our final numbers for Primary 1, so this may be subject to change if our numbers increase.

Nursery to Primary 1 Transition

We have organised a range of events to ensure a smooth transition for your child into Primary 1. As your child is a currently enrolled as part of our nursery, most of these events will naturally happen and you do not need to make any extra arrangements.

Learning together

For this opportunity the pupils will be spilt into groups depending on whether they are a morning or afternoon child. They will get to experience what learning is like in a P1 environment. They will experience this at three different points over May and June, including a playground session, allowing them to experience the playground.

Assemblies:

Children will have the opportunity to join us with our whole school assemblies at different points during the term.

Buddy Visits:

Their buddy is a P6 child who has been matched with your child to support them during transition and to help them find their way around the school. We have organised for their buddy to visit the nursery three times before the end of this school year.

P1 Induction Evening – Meet the Teacher (for parents):

On Tuesday 5th June at 6pm we would like to invite parents/ carers along to find out about what learning and routines are like in P1. You will also receive all your enrolment and order forms at this time and have a chance to visit the P1 classrooms.

Meet the Teacher (for pupils) and Dine Together:
