Nursery Term 3 Interim Report

P4-7: Bring Your Own Device Offer of Support
Dear parent/ carer,
As we continue to prepare our children for continuity of learning in the event of school closures, we would like to support children downloading glow related apps if they have a device.
Tomorrow, Thursday 19th, if your P4-7 child has a device (phone or tablet) that they use and you give them permission, they can bring this to school. It will be collected as normal in the morning and stay at the office until the support session, or you can drop the device off at the office in the morning. They will only be permitted to use the device at this specific time and should not use them in the playground.
We would request that you download the following free apps in advance:
- Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft One Drive
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft One Note
- Microsoft Powerpoint
We will then support your child with how to log in and access learning with these apps using their glow log in.
This is completely voluntary, and I hope you recognise that this is an attempt by us to continue to support you and your child with learning.

West Lothian Communication about School Closures
We note today’s announcement by the First Minister regarding schools closing to pupils from Monday 23 March.
We are awaiting further details from the Scottish Government, and will confirm details with pupils and parents/carers as soon as we can.
Extensive preparations have already been made for this situation and we will work to maintain learning and to support students at this difficult time.
Home Learning Opportunities
As you aware we have no confirmed cases of corona virus in our school.
However, we are aware that following NHS guidelines some children/ families are having to self isolate.
Currently our main priority is continuity of learning for the children we have at school, if schools were to close there will be home learning tasks made available and a strategic plan in place for how learning would be delivered which will be shared if there was a school closure.
In the short term if you are self isolating there are the following learning opportunities available:
- P1-7 have Sumdog log ins that they can use at home. Logs in are in their homework diary/ reading record.
- P4-7 have glow logs in and should access home learning through their team. There is a literacy and numeracy task in their team to complete. More information here:Â https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/puscpsnews/p4-p7-get-glowing/

- Some individual children have access to IDL log ins to support their literacy learning. Logs in are in their homework diary/ reading record.
- Children should have their reading book at home

Parent Consultations
Dear parent/ carer,
Following West Lothian advice we are cancelling our Parent Consultations next week.
Instead of the face to face meeting, we will provide an overview of learning that the children have experienced in term 3. If you have any specific questions about your child you will be able to email the school. This overview will be issued prior to the Easter holidays, and staff will follow up on any questions or concerns you may have after that.

P4 – P7 Get Glowing!
Primary 4-7 have been using glow to access learning online. Every child in P4-7 has a username and password that they can use to access different resources.
Each class has created a team and within the team the children can access different learning tasks in and out of school.
Miss Burton has set the children in P4-7 a free writing task and a maths question of the day. Log into your team and click on the literacy and numeracy channels to access the task. These channels can be accessed at home and at school. I look forward to reading what you come up with!

If your child can not remember their glow log in, please email the school office (wlpuscps@westlothian.org.uk) and we will reset it for them.
School Values Consultation
As a school we recently consulted on what our community think our core values should be. Our core values are the fundamental beliefs of our school and are the guiding principles that dictate our behaviours.
Please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire which will help us determine our school values.
The questionnaire will close on 13th March 2020.
