Book Week Scotland Assembly

On Friday we had an assembly to celebrate Book Week Scotland.

We presented the Sum Dog Reading Competition winners with a certificate.

The Literacy Leaders also presented the winning authors with their certificate and book tokens.

We also dressed up as characters from our favourite books.

Congratulations to our Living our Values children.

A big well done to our winners and thank you to the Literacy Leaders, Ms McLaughlin and Mrs Mooney for organising the competition and selecting the winners.

Repost: Children in Need 2019

On Friday 15th November, we are having a Children in Need fundraising morning.

To raise money we will be:

  • Dressing up or dressing down for a donation. Why not dress up in yellow or in spots like Pudsey?
  • Having a ’Guess the Baby Teacher’ competition. Pupils can try to correctly match the baby pictures to teacher’s name for the chance to win a prize. Each entry will cost 50p.
  • Holding a bake sale in the dining hall. We would be very grateful for any parent/carer baking donations. Please hand any donations into the office and list the ingredients used  for those with allergies.

Thank you for your support.

Dress Down Day

A reminder that Friday 1st November is a dress down day. We would request if children decided to dress down that they make a donation. The house and vice captains have decided that the money raised will be used by classes to select resources for Together Time.

Please no football colours or crop tops.

Calder Movie Afternoon

Calder were the term 1 house points winners. Summer and Kyle surveyed the children in Calder to find out what they would like their treat to be and they selected a movie afternoon. They then did a survey to find out which movie and they picked Nanny McPhee. We also picked juice, popcorn and ice lollies for refreshments and dressed in our pjs. We had a fun, relaxing afternoon with our house buddies! Thank you to Kyle, Summer and the P7 Young Leaders for helping to organise and set up the party.

Congratulations Calder!

We took part in the National Maths Week Sumdog Competition.

Some of children completed all 1000 questions! Primary 3 scored the highest for the school, and Tyler came 207th out of almost 75000 pupils.

Thank you to our Sumdog ambassadors for giving out the awards!

Families Learning Together

There was a real buzz in the hall today as we had our first Families Learning Together session of this school year. Children had to the opportunity to share their progress in their jotters and their targets. This will also support conversations at our  Parent Appointments next week. Thank you to everyone who joined us and our P7 Young Leaders who ran the event.

Our Digital Directors and IDL experts demonstrated to parents and carers how to use these apps.

Magical Mediators Trip

Our P7 Magical Mediators took part in a special training event at Tynecastle in Edinburgh on Thursday.  Schools from across Scotland came

together to enjoy a circus themed day and to brush up on their mediation skills.  Mrs Ross and Mrs Bonner said our P7s were a credit to our school.
