Nursery Garden News

This afternoon the children in the Nursery were finding out how the carrots, onions, peas and potatoes they planted in the Spring had grown over the Summer. Here are the results!

Orchard report 21 Aug. 13

The orchard is looking great, although there are no apples yet.  One tree has been damaged over the summer, it looks like rabbits have been there. The grass has grown longer in the holidays with lots of clover. Primary 7 found a couple of 4 leafed clovers when we were litter picking.                                                   Holly and Amy Primary 7.

Primary 7 fundraising news

Our activities this morning with Primary 1,2 and 3 were very successful. Everyone enjoyed it. At Basketball all the children were very active and kept trying for the high basket.  At Golf & Games we all had fun and we hope in the future to see some of our pupils on TV! The Football group game ended in a 5-0 victory for the red team, but both teams played very well.  Dance was great fun and ended in a Dance-off as the other groups came back to the Hall.

We are delighted to announce the total amount raised (from our Coffee and Cake event and the Activites this morning) is £53.97

The money will be shared between P7 end of term treat and the fund for painting markings on our playground.

Thank you very much to everyone who joined in, gave money and helped us in our fundraising.  Thank you to Mrs Taylor for all the delicious baking.

P5 Weekly Blog

It has been a very busy week with a dress rehearsal and two performances on Wednesday and Thursday evening for our school show Thursday’s Child.  All of the children in P5 who were part of the show would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported them in the run up to the show.  We do hope all of the audience enjoyed watching it as much as they enjoyed doing it.  We look forward to seeing all of the pictures taken by Mrs Richardson on the Blog sometime soon. This week we have also enjoyed developing our reading skills by reading The Spiderwick Chronicles. We do hope everyone will remember to hand in their slip to give their child permission to watch this DVD as it is rated PG.  It would be a lovely end of term treat to watch the film after reading the book.

Primary 4

This week we  worked really hard to learn all our lines, make props and get things ready for our assembly.  We were quite nervous on Thursday because we didn’t think we were quite ready for an audience!  However, we all worked together and managed to perform fantastically on stage on Thursday afternoon.   Thank you to everyone who helped us and came along to watch our performance.  We hope you enjoyed it and felt that you had been on a little holiday to Australia.  Next week we are looking forward to taking part in Sport’s Day and starting a new Science mini topic all about Magnets.

P1 Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Last week, P1a and 1m had a surprise. Mrs Davies found Buster the Bear in the playground. He had a tag around his neck that was for the annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Unfortunately, Buster was left behind and missed it 🙁 So, both classes decided that we were going to make a Teddy Bears’ Picnic so he had one to go to.

We need to think about…

  • What we will take
  • Where we will have it
  • What we will drink
  • What we will eat
  • What we will sit on
  • Who we will invite
  • What we will do at the picnic

Watch this space for more details 🙂

P5 Weekly Blog

This week we have been very busy rehearsing for Thursday’s Child. Tickets are on sale now priced £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children.

We have also enjoyed developing our drama skills this week by acting our scenes from our class novel The Eejits. We have been recording the scenes on the Flip camera so we can watch it together and offer each other feedback on our performances. We enjoyed our reflective assembly on Thursday when we had quiet time to think about things in a calm, quiet environment.

Sad news about Fergus

Mrs Hull is sorry to say that when she went round to water Fergus the Sunflower on Friday, he had snapped in the wind.

Now we won’t be able to enter the West Lothian schools sunflower competition – but the Eco group will have a go at growing our own sunflowers to take home. We could have a whole team of Ferguses growing in and around the school to find out the best place for next year’s competition!

Fergus update

Oooh dear – we are worried about Fergus. He’s looking rather frazzled by the wind.  We gave him a good drink of water mixed with plant food today, and hope this will give him the energy he needs to grow some new leaves.  Come on Fergus, you can do it!
