Golden Time

Primary 2-7 pupils signed up to their chosen golden time activity this week and had great fun playing with peers from different classes. All classes have been learning about Rights and Responsibilities since returning to school and article number 31 is a favourite – we have the right to play.

Building is great fun!
We had a great time playing field games.
I really enjoy art activities.
Outdoor play is great fun!
We made vehicles and raced them.
We loved construction!

I wish my teacher knew…

This morning we enjoyed our last Pumphie Pals of the session.  In our mixed groups of children from P1-P7 we thought about what we wanted our new teacher to know, what we were excited about and what we were worried about.  We also shared pictures of us at our happiest!

The new class teachers will use this information on the first morning back on August 22nd to get to know us better.   See our video below and a photo of our completed forms.

JRSO Parking Update

Our JRSO Team and Mrs Bonner were out again this week.  A community Police Officer joined us this week to see the problem we are having and offer advice.

Cars are still choosing to disregard pupil safety and park in front of the bollards (the red and silver car on the right of this photo below) and – incredibly – on the pavement! (The red car on the left of the photo below).

The white car in this photo has decided to park on the pavement leading to library.

Are you parking safely?  Please stop putting us in danger for your own convenience.

JRSO Parking Problems Continued

Our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) were out with their camera again this week and – once again – were very upset and confused by the inconsiderate and dangerous parking they saw.

This was made even more annoying because the group walked down to Drumshoreland Road where there were spaces for more than 10 cars within a 2 minute walk.

Is your children’s safety worth less than a two minute walk?

Cars parked on the pavement and on the yellow “SCHOOL NO STOPPING” road marking – both of which are criminal offenses.

Car parked on the pavement which leads to the library – again – illegal parking as well as inconsiderate and dangerous.

Cars parked in front of the bollards – blocking the road for emergency vehicles.  Unacceptable and unnecessary.

Fairtrade Tuck Shop

Well done to the Rights Respecting and Magale group along with Primary 4 for running a successful tuck shop this week, selling Fairtrade items for Fairtrade Fortnight.

Thanks to the support of the pupils in the school, we made a total of £30 for the Friends of Magale fund.

PARKING

Our JRSO (Junior Road Safety Officers) with Mrs Bonner have been surveying parking at school pick-up – and they are not impressed!

They have seen cars parked on the pavement and on the yellow boxes which is dangerous, inconsiderate and unnecessary.  They have photographed some particularly dangerous parking in the hope that parents and carers will think about the risk they are causing.

Thank You Rhona

On Tuesday we held a thank you assembly for our fantastic lollipop lady – now retired – Rhona Ritchie.  Pupil Council planned the event and Rhona enjoyed a tea party with pupils from Uphall Station whom she had helped over many years.  We then had a school assembly with poems and songs to thank Rhona for her hard work over more than 40 years – and to congratulate her on her British Empire Medal and her retirement.

It was an emotional afternoon and we hope that everyone enjoyed it, especially Rhona.
