Primary 3

Primary 3 have left the Victorian times in their time machine and landed in the 1960’s! We have been comparing music from the 1960’s to now and have been finding out about the fashion from that time. We designed our own sixties clothes using the same bright and bold patterns that were used then.

P5 Weekly Blog

It has been a very busy week with a dress rehearsal and two performances on Wednesday and Thursday evening for our school show Thursday’s Child.  All of the children in P5 who were part of the show would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported them in the run up to the show.  We do hope all of the audience enjoyed watching it as much as they enjoyed doing it.  We look forward to seeing all of the pictures taken by Mrs Richardson on the Blog sometime soon. This week we have also enjoyed developing our reading skills by reading The Spiderwick Chronicles. We do hope everyone will remember to hand in their slip to give their child permission to watch this DVD as it is rated PG.  It would be a lovely end of term treat to watch the film after reading the book.

Primary 4

This week we  worked really hard to learn all our lines, make props and get things ready for our assembly.  We were quite nervous on Thursday because we didn’t think we were quite ready for an audience!  However, we all worked together and managed to perform fantastically on stage on Thursday afternoon.   Thank you to everyone who helped us and came along to watch our performance.  We hope you enjoyed it and felt that you had been on a little holiday to Australia.  Next week we are looking forward to taking part in Sport’s Day and starting a new Science mini topic all about Magnets.

P1 Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Last week, P1a and 1m had a surprise. Mrs Davies found Buster the Bear in the playground. He had a tag around his neck that was for the annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Unfortunately, Buster was left behind and missed it 🙁 So, both classes decided that we were going to make a Teddy Bears’ Picnic so he had one to go to.

We need to think about…

  • What we will take
  • Where we will have it
  • What we will drink
  • What we will eat
  • What we will sit on
  • Who we will invite
  • What we will do at the picnic

Watch this space for more details 🙂

P5 Weekly Blog

This week we have been very busy rehearsing for Thursday’s Child. Tickets are on sale now priced £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children.

We have also enjoyed developing our drama skills this week by acting our scenes from our class novel The Eejits. We have been recording the scenes on the Flip camera so we can watch it together and offer each other feedback on our performances. We enjoyed our reflective assembly on Thursday when we had quiet time to think about things in a calm, quiet environment.

Eco Challenge

Our Eco Challenge in Primary 3 was to design the garden beside the dinner hall door. We measured the area then came back to class to draw our design of what we thought would work well in the area. We have also been trying hard to reduce the amount of paper in our blue bag. We have  even given someone a job in class to check that the paper in the bag has been used on both sides before it goes in!

The Big Pedal

Reminder- when the snow’s gone, remember to scoot or cycle to school and let the JRSOs know! We are ranked 48th in Scotland, 661st in the UK – can we climb that ranking list??? Put your best pedal forward!

The Big Pedal

Our school will be taking part in the 3 stages of the Big Pedal 2013. On the 28th Feb, 8th March and 20th March we will be counting the number of children, staff and parents who cycle or scoot to school.  Our results are logged with the national Big Pedal event and we will be given a place in the race! More news at assembly from the JRSOs.

Primary 6

This week in P6 there has been lots of learning going on. We have been working in our topic groups to make a  model of the Titanic. The parts of it that we’ve been making are:  the funnels, the decking, the hull and the sea.

In writing we have been writing settings for stories and trying to guess other peoples. We really all enjoyed our writing this week because we had  to guess each others settings.

We were given our tickets for the Titanic in drama.  Some people had first class tickets, others second and third.

In assembly we where thinking about consideration of others and Rights week after the holiday.

Everyone dressed inside out today to raise money for UNICEF!  We had to spell our words forwards and backwards for our spelling check-up!

We hope everyone has a good long weekend!
