P5 visit Stirling Castle

As part of our learning about life in the 16th Century the children went to Stirling Castle to experience what life was like in that time especially if you were rich! While they were on the trip they found out about a lot of things they had said they wanted to learn about.

P5 Investigate Natural Disasters

We created 3D structures to represent our farms in the Scottish landscape. Then each of our farms were subjected to a terrible natural disaster. This allowed us to experience how others feel when their houses are destroyed in real natural disasters. We then wrote a newspaper article to explain what natural disaster had taken place and what the outcome of it was. Then we worked in groups to write a script for a news interview. We are currently practicing these and we will be performing them in front of the class next week.

Digital Week in P5

We have been very busy developing our digital skills in P5.  We have been redrafting our imaginative writing using Microsoft Word. In topic we use Google to research Munros, Corbetts and lochs in Scotland. and then, in groups,  we created powerpoints to share the information.  We used Microsoft Excel to develop our skills in data handling to create 2D charts to compare the heights of Munros and Corbetts.

We were very lucky to get a coding workshop this week and also we had a visitor from a Develop Ops Engineer from Cloudreach.

Club Wild – Houses complete and ready for families!

P6 WE Schools workshops

WE Schools visited our P6s yesterday.  The children took part in three workshops, debating issues such as climate change, bullying and hunger.  The P6s were very respectful of each others’ opinions  and Annie from WE Schools said they were a pleasure to work with. Well done P6!

Fairtrade Kahoot!

Primary 7 used Kahoot to assess their knowledge of Fairtrade, following our Pumphie Pals meeting on Friday. Kahoot is an app/ website that allows the children to interact with questions on the board using the iPads. We were very impressed with how accurately they could answer the questions. You can see from their faces how engaged they were!

Pumphie Pals: Fairtrade

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight our Pumphie Pals session today had a Fairtrade theme.

First of all the children sorted statements which represented Fairtrade values and those that didn’t.

Then they had a Fairtrade quiz.
