Parents as Partners: P1-3 Gifting

This afternoon families and friends from P1, 2 and 3 joined us to receive their book bags and find out how they could use them at home. The children took part in a range of activities with their families, from writing stories, to crafting, learning to play new games and reading.

P1-3 Buddy’s Gift Book Bags

There was lots of excitement in the infant department today as P1 received their Bookbug Bags from their P7 buddy’s. They looked through the bags together and P7 read them some stories.

P4 gifted P3, and P6 gifted P2 with their Read, Write, Count Bags. They explored the bags together and even found some games to play.

The P1-3 children will take their bags home tomorrow, and we have invited parents, carers and families along at 2:30pm on Tuesday to look through the bags with their child.

Pumphie Pals: Golden Time Consultation

As Golden Time is an important part of our school ethos, the House and Vice Captains decided they would like to consult with the whole school on what is working and what might need changed. We used our Pumphie Pals time today to explore what it might look like in the New Year. Our House and Vice Captains will now meet to collate this information.

P3 Are Magic!

P3 had great fun casting ‘magic spells’ this afternoon! We have been learning about magnetism in science and applied this learning to create ‘magic wands’ for our Hogwarts pupils. We used the power of magnetism to attract objects to our wands and even had wizarding duels. Have a look at us in action…

P6 Weekly Blog

We went to Broxburn Academy for a STEM day (Science Technology Engineering and Maths). Here are some of the activities we got a chance to take part in.

‘ We got to play with Oobleck. I f you put hard pressure on Oobleck on it, it becomes a solid. If you put light pressure on it, it becomes a liquid. ‘ Lauren

‘ We attached inflated balloons onto cd hovercrafts and took part in a race with them.’ Andrew

‘ We made fizz pop rockets. We put blu tak into the lid and added a white tablet. Then we added water. The first time we added cold water and we repeated it with hot water. We found out that hot water made the fizz pop rocket explode faster.’ Erin S

Primary 2

This week, Primary 2 got arty!

We had been learning about different natural textures and the words we would use to describe them. We thought about how we could use this to create a piece of artwork and decided to create a group ‘texture picture’.

We created crayon rubbings of natural materials like bark, pine needles, pine cones and coconut shells. We then cut them into shapes and brought them together to made a woodland picture.

Can you guess which animal we made?

Check in with us next week to see what we are learning!

Until then…

P3 Class Blog

P3 have had lots of fun doing expressive arts this week.

For dance, we had a taster session from Danceworld. We all had to stay on our spots and do the moves we learned at the same time.

For drama, we have started rehearsals for our class assembly. We have been learning about scripts, cues and stage directions.

For music, we have been practising singing our songs for the class assembly.

We used our literacy skills to write invitations for our class assembly and brought them home. Please check school bags if you haven’t received your invitation yet. The assembly will be on Friday 24th November. Please arrive at 9am for a 9.15am start.
