West Lothian Primary Triathlon

On Tuesday 4th June some pupils from P5, P6 & P7 attended the West Lothian Primary Triathlon at Deans CHS. The children had a great day! They had to swim, cycle and run as fast as they could with quick transitions between each activity. After the triathlon, they participated in some other fun activities including hammer throw and tug of war. Every child received a medal for their efforts and the school received a certificate. Well done to all who attended!

P3 – Fun Start Fitness Cancelled

We have just been informed from Active Schools, that due to the weather, the Primary 3 Fun Start Fitness Festival will be cancelled on Thursday 13th June.

This also means we will no longer require the parent helpers.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Roots of Empathy in Primary 6

This week was our last Roots of Empathy session. We had a final visit from baby Alfie and his mum and we all received certificates as recognition of our learning achievements over the course of the programme. We also presented Alfie with letters and wishes for the future that we had written for him to read when he is older. We have really enjoyed watching him develop and grow and we have learned so much about caring for a baby.

In Science, we have been learning about buoyancy. We tested a number of different materials to see how well they floated. We discovered that the buoyancy of an object depends on its shape, weight and density, along with the depth of the water.

Primary 2S Transition Challenge

Primary 2S have been busy this week completing a transition challenge set by Miss Burton. Our challenge is to let P1 know about what to expect when they come up to P2 next session. We have made posters showing important information and we are looking forward to going to visit the P1 class to share the information on our posters. We will let you know how we get on!

Primary 1 – Marvellous Me

Some of the boys and girls in P1 took the Marvellous Me boxes home last week for the first time this year. After filling the boxes with items that were special to them, they gave a presentation about what they had brought in and why. Well done to everyone last Friday and we can’t wait to see what’s inside this weeks boxes!

Basketball Team Success!

A big well done to our basketball team in making it to the West Lothian Wolves playoffs on Friday. This is a huge achievement for our newly formed team!

Thank you to Mrs Hamilton who has passionately coached the basketball team and inspired the team to persevere, and to Mrs Ross for supporting the team on Friday.

Basketball Pizza Party Celebration

Our basketball team recently won the White B Conference as part of the West Lothian Wolves Primary School league.

Our basketball team was a new addition to the school this year. These children give up their lunch times, after school and Friday afternoons to train and attend league games.

We are very proud of their perseverance, determination and grit in order to win their league.

To recognise this huge achievement, today we treated them to a pizza party! They enjoyed pizza, team chat and watching some NBA games.

A big thank you to their Coach, Mrs Hamilton who has been an inspirational and motivational coach for our team, and also to the children’s families for supporting them by taking them to the games.

Best of luck for your games on Friday!

Pumphie Pals Self Evaluation

We started our session by playing a community builder and some of the pre-school children from our nursery joined us, as part of their transition.

On Friday our Pumphie Pals groups used How Good is OUR Good to self evaluation our improvements journey. Each group had one of the areas to evaluate:

  • Our relationships
  • Our learning and teaching
  • Our school and community
  • Our health and wellbeing
  • Our success and achievements

The groups sorted statements into agree, not sure and disagree.
