Well done to our children who received the Living the Awards this week.
Congratulations to Almond who have earned the most dojos this this week and this term so far.

The aim of The Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children.
Its impact can be transformational – improving not only the children’s fitness, but also their concentration levels, mood, behaviour and general wellbeing.
The Daily Mile is a social activity, wherein the children run or jog – at their own pace – in the fresh air with friends. Children can occasionally walk to catch their breath, if necessary, but should aim to run or jog for the full 15 minutes.
Primary 4 had great fun running our daily mile yesterday!

As the sun shone on us today at lunch time Primary 7 decided to use the logs to create their own game. They had to risk assess which logs were safe to stand on and tested out the log path to ensure it was safe to leep across. Then they decided on rules on how to play the game in a fair way. They had lots of fun and Miss Burton even had a go too (with some support!), everyone who joined in managed to earn themselves a dojo! Well done P7!

Today at assembly we celebrated how we are all unique and that we should respect everyone for their uniqueness. We watched a video which made us think about we accept others for who they are.

Congratulations to Primary 3, who have completed their Fun Start Sessions with Broxburn United, and a big thank you to the team there for delivering the sessions.
A big well done to all our children this week who have been Living Our Values.
The House and Vice Captains decided they would like ‘a treat’ for winning the most points each term. After consulting with their House, Ella and Ewan decided on a Candyland theme party. They put together a programme for the party and organised the morning. A big well done to all the P7 Young Leaders in Almond who ran the party on a Friday morning – it was a huge success and everyone had lots of fun.
Congratulations Almond!
At our Pumphie Pals the children agreed that they wanted to continue having structured activities for Golden Time/ Fun Time Friday. Some of the activities are across the school and some are in stages. We started this again on Friday and some of the activities included:
At our in-service day on Monday we looked at ways we celebrate successes and personal achievements in school and if we needed to make any changes. We shared this at our New Year Assembly on Tuesday.
One of our P6 children suggested that everyone used Class Dojo and these points could be used as house points, so we have decided to trial this approach. Children can receive points for living the school values. On a Friday the house and vice captains will collect the house points and we will share them at the assembly. Also if you are the top scorer in your class for your house, each Friday you will receive a Top Scorer card and this will be entered into a termly draw. The lucky winners will receive a voucher. The winning house each term will receive a treat of their choice.
Each term we will have a celebration assembly to celebrate those children with achievements in reading (as it is in our school improvement plan) and STEM (Science Technologies Engineering and Mathematics). We will also share the house winners and top scorers at this assembly.
At our Pumphie Pals Meeting we discussed what Golden Time should look like in our school and here is what we came up with:
We look forward to earning our dojos and sharing our successes with you!
You will find some of our changes in the PowerPoint below, we will continue to reflect, adapt and consult on the changes.

This afternoon the PM nursery children went out to the local area for a walk. We talked about keeping safe, particularly when crossing the road. The children were able to say that they should look both ways for traffic. They demonstrated that they could cross the road safely with the support of an adult.
As Golden Time is an important part of our school ethos, the House and Vice Captains decided they would like to consult with the whole school on what is working and what might need changed. We used our Pumphie Pals time today to explore what it might look like in the New Year. Our House and Vice Captains will now meet to collate this information.
