Primary 2S takes the mail!

Primary 2S had a very responsible job today! They had to go to the Scotmid  post office to send the school’s pen pal letters to Magale school in Uganda. We hope to hear back from Magale school soon.

As we have been learning about food that is good for us in class, we decided to buy a healthy apple when we were there. We  had this for an afternoon snack after our busy writing lesson.

Basketball Success!

Our amazing Basketball Team took part in the West Lothian Wolves schools tournament on Friday. They won 4 games out of 5! A big congratulations to our fantastic team, we are very proud of you!

NSPCC – Speak Out, Stay Safe!

Today the NSPCC visited our school to share the message of Speak Out, Stay Safe with our children. They all shared the importance of having trusted adults to talk to. P1-3 and P4-7 took part in an assembly.

Primary 6 and 7 participated in workshops further exploring the messages delivered in the assembly by discussing different scenarios.

Primary 7 further explored this by using the kids section on the Childline website: https://www.childline.org.uk/kids

Digital Internet Safety Challenge in P7

This afternoon we used the app Kahoot to assess what we knew about social media, we loved trying out this new website! We made up nicknames not giving away our identity and answered different questions.

Then we discussed that although most social media apps and online games are for over 13 and 16 year olds, it was important to think about how we stay safe online, if our parents or carers give us permission to use these apps.

Miss Burton set us a digital challenge with a difference – we weren’t allowed to use PowerPoint!

First of all we brainstormed all our top tips and then selected our top 5!

Some of us made a Sway using our glow log ins.

Some of us made videos using the green screen and edited them using iMovie.

Some of us made a poster using Word.

Primary 1

It has been short but busy week for P1.  They have been rehearsing for a very special assembly next month.  Making invitations was our first job so that we had an audience.  They had to write down all the important information an invitation needs and then design the cover.  They will be ready to come home on Monday!

Mrs McJimpsey and Mrs Hardie had an exciting call on Wednesday after school.  The man said that he had heard Primary 1 are learning about how different living things grow and how to care for them.  He would like to give us some eggs to look after in our classroom.  We shared ideas about what might be inside.  Here are some ideas:

  • Ducklings
  • Dragons
  • Flowers
  • Chocolates
  • Chicks
  • Seeds
  • Beach balls

The eggs will arrive on Monday and we can investigate further!

Primary 2S

Primary 2S have been learning this week about things that are important to live a healthy life.

Kenzie: We should exercise.  I go to football club.

Logan:  I bring water to school every day.  We should drink lots of water.

Hannah:  It’s  important to get enough sleep so we have energy.

Christopher: Eating lots of healthy food is good for us.  I like bananas and apples.

Floraidh:  It’s okay to eat some chocolate and sweets, just not all the time.  I bring strawberries in a wee tub for my snack.

We made our own healthy food book and next week we will be preparing our own healthy food in class!
