The children who have played as part of our Basketball Team have received an invite to their Basketball Celebration.
Primary 1-7 Sports Day
Sports day will take place on Thursday 9th May at 1:30pm, on the playing fields beside the school. Sports Day will include potted sports and traditional races. Children can come to school on Thursday dressed ready for Sports Day, please ensure no football colours are worn. We would also request that all children remember to bring their water bottle to school on that day so they can take it to the field with them. To join in with their team spirit we would request if possible children wear a top in their Pumphie Pals colour:
- Almond – Green
- Breich – Red
- Calder – Blue
There will be an area on the field designated for families to spectate the events and we would request that parents/ carers please stay in this area. Dogs are not permitted at Sports Day. Please note, due to health and safety, there will be no access to the school for spectators. Due to photograph restrictions, we ask that you only take photographs of your own child/ children and ensure that no photos or videos of other children are taken, or posted on social media.
At the end of Sports Day, can we please request that all parents/ carers stay on the field until all the children have safely returned to the school building. Then we will open the playground and parents/ carers can collect their child from outside their classroom door.
Should we have to cancel due to the weather, we will Groupcall you by 11.00am on that day.
We look forward to you joining us for a fun and healthy afternoon!
World Autism Awareness Day
Today we celebrated World Autism Awareness Day.
We all wore our favourite colours to show how we are all different.
Mr Ullathorne, one of our parents who works with Autism Initiatives took workshops with P2-7. They discussed autistic super powers, neurodiversity and sensory overload.
A big thank you to Mr Ullathorne for giving up his time to come and work with us.
Great fun today taking workshops with children from P2-P7 for #WorldAutismAwarenessDay.. Talked autistic superpowers, neurodiversity & meeting each others' sensory needs.. Proud to work with @AutismInit to support people to have control & choice in life ❤https://t.co/IypN9stJQS

P4-7 Visit the New Pump Track
In order to support health and safety and assessing risk at the new Pump Track beside our school we have taken P4-7 over for a visit. Although the Pump Track is not part of our school we know it is very tempting for our children on their way to and from school, so we wanted to support them with making decisions about the track.
First of all we discussed tips Miss Burton had previously shared with us:
- ALWAYS wear a helmet, and elbow and knee pads.
- Ask permission from your parents/ carers.
- Only use your own bike/ scooter.
- Read the safety signs.
- Don’t use the track before school, unless agreed with your parent/ carer.
- Don’t walk on the track if people are cycling.
We read the safety signs at the track.
We risk assessed the track, to discuss which parts we thought might be tricky.
Then we walked, fast walked or jogged around the track. This helped to give us a feel for what the track is like. Some of us even thought it would be good to do our daily mile on the track.
Some of our children who are very confident at using the track, volunteered to take part in a photo shot to promote the track by West Lothian Council. You will see that they are all wearing a helmet.

P6 Skiing
Some of our P6 pupils have just returned from a 3 day skiing course at Hillend. They learned new skills and challenged themselves. Their skiing instructor, Dave, and Mrs Ross said they were excellent ambassadors for our school. Well done P6, we are proud of you!
