Primary 1

It has been a busy week in P1.

In topic, we have been busy creating our own 3D aquariums using craft materials.  Our polar books now have a front cover and 2 information pages.

We had a digital learning visit from Three Mobile who showed us how to create our own cartoons using an app called Toontastic.  Everyone worked very well with their partners to create new characters.

Well done to Kiannah, Iona, Grace and Millie who presented their Marvellous Me boxes to their peers.  They were all super and beamed with confidence!

Stellar Writing Competition

All the children in P1-P7 created a piece of writing for the West Lothian Council Stellar Writing Competition (previously known as Young Writer of the Year).

Our Literacy Leaders had the difficult task of selecting the best piece of writing for each class, and then an overall winner for the school.

On Thursday 6th May at 2:30pm, we will have a special Star Writer Assembly to celebrate and announce those children who have been selected (the children don’t know).  Parents/ carers of these children have been informed but everyone is invited to the assembly. We look forward to seeing you!

Primary 1 – Marvellous Me

Some of the boys and girls in P1 took the Marvellous Me boxes home last week for the first time this year. After filling the boxes with items that were special to them, they gave a presentation about what they had brought in and why. Well done to everyone last Friday and we can’t wait to see what’s inside this weeks boxes!

Primary 2 Digital Learning Week

This week as part of our digital learning, primary 2 took part in Scottish Book Trust’s “Author’s live.” The Author, Emily Mackenzie read her story, “There’s broccoli in my ice-cream” to us on a live feed from Edinburgh, then showed us, step by step how to draw a character from her book. It was great fun!

We also had a chance this week to experience using the green screen app. We listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, made masks of the characters and then had the opportunity to recreate scenes from the story with a green screen background.
