Pupil Voice: STEM Group

Today, we looked at the E (Engineering) element of STEAM in our Pupil Voice Group. We designed rollercoasters and used only Lego or paper to build our designs. We even had a go at making some carts to move along the track. Excellent Engineering!

Primary 1

Primary 1 were happy to receive their Book Bug bag this week. We enjoyed listening to the stories and took part in activities relating to the books. We read “Penelope Snoop, Ace Detective.” After reading, we designed our own rocket to travel to space and packed our own suitcase, drawing everything we wanted to take with us.
We read the book “5 bears: A tale of friendship” then made fur for our own bear and clothes for them to wear.
Our book bag contained our first minibeast book so we designed our own butterfly and decorated its wings.
Thank you to all of the parents and carers  who came to our reading events on Thursday and Friday.  We appreciate your support.

Primary 3/2 update

Primary 3/2 have been working hard since the start of term 2 in October. Here are some pictures of our new corridor displays showing off all our hard work. We have started our rainforest topic and have been exploring where rainforests are in the world as well as learning about the 3 main climate zones.

In literacy our focus has been on narrative writing and we have written some fantastic stories.
We have also been learning about Diwali the Hindu festival of light and have created our own Rangoli patterns.

In maths we have started to explore time and have been enjoying some active learning to help us with this tricky concept!

Primary 1

Primary 1 were visited last week by the friendly dragon from Fairyland. He asked for our help.  We completed our first challenge which was to make new homes for the 3 little pigs. We listened to the fairy tale, made our own pig puppets, and then created new homes for the pigs using different materials.

We have learning about the different seasons and talking about signs of Autumn, we created our own Autumn trees by tinfoil printing with paint.

In RME, we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We watched a little girl called Jessica prepare for the festival and enjoy the celebrations. We talked about times in the year that we have celebrations with our own family.

Primary 1

This week Primary 1 had fun in class taking part in Halloween activities. We made spooky pumpkin art and in writing we had to fill our own witches cauldron.
Later in the week we had a special visitor in class who set us a challenge.  More information to follow…
