Primary 7 IDL

We are currently learning about a variety of different aspects of China to create a travel guide.  Each group decided what they wanted to investigate and are using their research skills to find relevant information before then using their IT skills to create a page or two for the travel guide book.  We can’t wait to see it published.

The ‘P1 Sumdog Promotion Team’ visited classes today to announce the start of a new Sumdog Contest. The West Lothian contest will start today, good luck everyone!

Lendrick Muir Reminders

We are very excited that it is nearly time for Lendrick Muir!

Please find below some reminders and information that we shared at the Parent Information Evening.

  • If your child requires medication they must complete a permission to administer medication form prior to leaving on the Wednesday morning. This includes travel sickness pill, Calpol, etc.
  • Medication for camp should be handed into Mrs Ross at the office at 8.30amon the morning of camp.
  • Children to arrive at 8.40am, the bus will leave at 9.00am. Children should be dropped off at the front office, and go into the gym hall to be registered and go to the toilet. Parents and family can wait outside to wave goodbye to their children as they go onto the bus – if they wish.
  • Children should wear comfortable clothes ready for outdoor activities, school uniform is not required.
  • Children are not required to order or bring a lunch.
  • We will send a group call to let you know the children have arrived safely.
  • £6 pocket money will be provided, £2 each day. A purse or a wallet is useful for the children to keep their change in. Children should not bring any extra money to camp. This keeps it fair for all children.
  • Staff attending the residential are Mrs Campbell, Mrs Ross and Mrs Cougan.
  • Pupils are not permitted to take electronic devices or valuables with them. They can take a disposable camera if they wish. The staff will take photos with school cameras. Wi-Fi permitting we will try and post on the school blog while we are away. We may also post photos on Twitter as it is it easier and quicker to upload to this platform – you do not need to have a Twitter account to log on, if you go to Twitter and search @PUSCPS you will find us.
  • Children will be collected as usual at the end of the school day on Friday at 12:25pm. If we are delayed we will group call you. If you are not collecting your child please let the office know in advance. Parents/ carers should collect medication handed in for the residential from the school office.
  • When packing, remember the child will have to carry their own bag to the accommodation. It is also recommended to go over what clothes you have packed for them so they know what to wear to different activities.
  • A helpful tip is to put each day’s set of clothes into labelled plastic carrier bags. This helps the children to stay organised and to wear suitable clothes for the outdoor activities. .
  • Please make sure they have plenty of gloves and spare socks.
  • Please remember a towel and toiletries.

Have fun packing!

Internet Safety Week in P5

LI:

Internet Safety

S.C.

I can… identify what information should be kept private or shared online

I can… describe ways to keep myself safe online

Primary 5 worked in partners to list the positive and negative aspects of using the internet. They explored different scenarios in which peoples personal data had been made public. In pairs, P5 then  listed ideas about ways in which they could prevent this from happening to them.

Each child considered their own social media and the way they use the internet. Individuals had to decide whether or not they were using it appropriately, safely and ensuring all information was private. Suggestions were made by these children and their peers about changes they could make to keep themselves safe on the internet.

Healthy Tuck Shop

Our new healthy tuck shop is up and running and has been proving very popular.  This is free for every pupil every day to ensure that everyone has access to a healthy snack at playtime if they would like one.  This initiative is funded from our participatory budget, where pupils suggested and voted on how a sum of money should be spent. The P6s are doing a great job managing our new enterprise.
