P4/3 Halloween Celebration

On Friday we had our Halloween celebration in P4/3. The children put lots of effort into their costumes and were very proud to show them off to the other children in the class. There were lots of spooky costumes, from skeletons to witches, and cats to zombies. We even had a ghost buster to keep everyone safe!

We designed and decorated our own pumpkins, had a party and watched a spooky episode of Arthur.

I hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend and stays safe this Halloween.

Thanks,

Mr Gourlay

P4/3 Maths Week Scotland

P4/3 are proud to say that they placed in the top 1,900 classes in Scotland for Sumdog’s Maths Week Scotland challenge! Well done to the whole class, over 6,000 classes entered the competition. This week in maths, we also continued to work on addition and subtraction, as well as counting in 2’s. We made a link to maths with our local community topic by discussing and using symmetrical shapes to design wallpaper for a new home or building in the Pumpherston and Uphall area. We are all looking forward to what we are going to achieve next week!

P7 Maths Week Scotland

P7 have been investigating the Bedtime Maths app.  This app presents fun maths problems to solve with three levels of difficulty to choose from.  We had to choose which problem solving strategy would work best for each problem.  We used our own devices to investigate.  Some P7s wanted to download the free app to use at home!

LI: Number sequences

SC: I can…find the missing number in the calculation.

Here are some pictures to show you what we have been doing in maths this week. When we are learning a news maths concept we always start with concrete materials. Then we move onto pictorial examples. Here are pictures to show you the process.
