Primary 7 weekly review

What a quick week it has been.

In Literacy we are focusing on reading and writing procedures. We have discussed all the different types of procedures in everyday life.

In Numeracy/Maths we are continuing area – using formula to calculate the area of composite shapes.

We had a great World Book day on Thursday. We made new book covers for our favourite books, drew favourite book characters and some of us read our favourite parts of our favourite books to the class.  Some of us even dressed up for the occasion.

P5 week beginning 28th February 2022

Magnet Investigation

As part of their STEM topic the children were investigating a variety of things to see if they were able to attract magnets.

In their jotters they had a table and they had to set out their findings: what items were able to attract magnets and what items were not?

Their next steps will be to plan and write a procedure of this experiment.

Primary 2

This week Primary 2 had great fun celebrating World Book Day. They got the opportunity to sit and read in the library as well as taking  part in a scavenger hunt.  They also had great fun showing off their costumes and they even designed their own book covers! They even managed to fit in a game of corners in the hall!!  Here are some pictures of what they got up to….

Primary 2/1 weekly blog

Primary 2/1 had great fun today dressing up for World Book Day. Everyone looked fantastic in their costumes.  In class, we listened to the story Monsters Love Underpants.  We painted our own monsters, then designed  underpants to hang on the class washing line!

P4 Blog: Week Beginning 28th February 2022

We have been practicing our Procedure writing skills this week. Planning and drafting A recipe for Pancakes. We made sure to have all four parts of a procedure and to use key words and verbs.

We have almost finished our novel, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator and we created out of this world art to retell our favourite scene from the story.

Remember tomorrow is World Book Day. We look forward to seeing your fantastic book character costumes.

Thank you Primary Four for making my last week at PUSCPS so much fun! Miss Hall 🙂

P2/1 Weekly Blog

As part of our Circus topic, P2/1 have been learning about the different acts you would find at the Circus. We talked and wrote about what kind of performer we would like to be.  In art, we drew clowns and designed our own Circus tent.

In drama, we have been learning how to mime and had great fun miming the different performers.

Primary 2

This week in Primary 2 we have been learning the ‘ng’ sound. We danced and sang along to a video about the ‘ng’ sound before having a go at using it to build words.

.

We have also been working really hard on practising our common words by using finger paint, cubes and rainbows. We challenged ourselves to write the words we had been practising on our whiteboard and got the rest of the class to double check it

.

Finally, on Friday we had a go at sharing our learning about space through drama. We became space explorers travelling through the galaxy pointing out and giving facts about things we could see along the way.

Well done Primary 2 for another fantastic week of work!

Primary 1 Update

Primary 1 have been learning about the life cycle of a hen. We sequenced each stage of the life cycle and discussed how a chick uses its ‘egg tooth’ to hatch from its egg. We also enjoyed creating our own chicks.

After reading the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff, we looked at lots of different bridges such as the Forth Rail Bridge and Tower Bridge, discussing their design and function. This inspired us to create our own bridges during block play time and to create detailed line drawings of bridges.

P6 Weekly Update

Morning everyone,

We have had another busy week in Primary 6. Here is what we have been up to…

Literacy – We have been working on imperative verbs (bossy verbs) to help us when we begin writing our next piece of writing this term, which is a procedure. We were provided with our feedback from our information report, where we discussed our targets and areas of strength/improvement. As a class, we developed our knowledge of how to link and join our writing which is one of our core targets. We also worked on our knowledge of prediction and clarifying.

Numeracy/Maths – We have been learning about the Order of Operations. We have worked hard this week to understand the correct order to work out different sums. Mrs McConville continued to develop our knowledge of perimeter.

IDL/Topic – We have been learning further information about the skeleton. We did some personal research where we picked an area of the skeleton and had to find out key facts/information. We will be moving onto the digestive system next and we can’t wait!

Languages – This week we had Christina introducing us to Romanian. We started by learning basic greetings alongside numbers. We are loving this opportunity to learn different languages!

Have a lovely weekend!

P5 STEM project week beginning 21st Feb 2022

Our first experiment was to investigate air resistance. We created o ring planes and we had to see how far they could fly. Well done to Jake as he created the plane which flew the furthest. After our test flight the children were given the opportunity to modify their plane to see if they could get it to fly further!

Our second experiment this week was to investigate electrostatic forces. To do this we use balloons. We rubbed them on our sweatshirts to charge them up and we tried to see if the negative charge would attract our hair. We had some hair raising experiences!

The next steps in our learning is to develop our literacy skills as we learn to write the procedures for our experiments.

Well done P5.
