Torchlit Procession Cancelled

Pumpherston Community council have told us today that unfortunately they have had to cancel the Torchlit procession which was planned for 10th December.

They are disappointed that it won’t take place this year.  If you would like to be part of the team planning the community Christmas events for 2015, contact the Community council through their website.

Thank you

This has been a very busy week with lots of rehearsals for Miss Speirs special leaving assembly.  We have had some emergencies in our animal hospital role-play area.  The most recent was Rudolph who has had a very sore nose.  We have been looking after him to make sure he is ready for a special day, very soon.

We have been learning to count forward and backwards to 20 – ask me to show you.

P4 Reflective Learning

This week, Primary 4 were let loose in the local area!

Our current topic is land use and we wanted to find out how the land around the school had been used. We had a very handy tour guide in Mrs Stanton (who loved using the line ‘When I was a wee girl…’) and found out a lot about how the area had changed in the not so distant past!

We found lots of different land uses in the local area:

  • Housing (old and new)
  • Recreation (the golf course, parks, the bowling club, football park)
  • Development (site of the old school)
  • Country park/woodland
  • Shops and services (newsagents, hairdresser’s, pubs and restaurants, dentist, Scotmid, car garages)
  • Houses of local celebrities (Mrs Stanton, Mrs Adie)
  • Industry (Houston Industrial Estate, Dobie’s)
  • Education (the school)

Last week P5 entertained the whole school and their parents with their assembly about life in the 16th Century.

Kadan ‘I enjoyed throwing the rotten food over the people in the stocks’.

Sophie C ‘I enjoyed dancing with Samantha on the stage ‘

Lewis P ‘I liked being put in the stocks and having the food thrown over me.’

Aaron ‘ I enjoyed being the narrator’.

We hope you all enjoyed our assembly too!

P1/2

This week we have enjoyed watching the P5 assembly. This week we have been learning about electricity and how much we need it as well as how dangerous it can be.  We wrote our own safety rules to help us remember to keep safe when using electricity.  P2s in the class have been learning about simple electrical circuits and we built our own making a bulb light up.  We have been learning about numbers to 20 and we learned some hedgehog facts that we wrote about.

We have a plan to help Mr Robin and his family,  so next week we will be very busy making bird food.

Ask us about our animal hospital that we now have in the open area.

Have a great weekend.

Jammies and Onesies for Pudsey

We had great fun wearing our pyjamas and onesies to school, raising money for Pudsey bear and BBC Children in Need. The total raised was over £180!  At the end of the day we had a fabulous furry fashion show so everyone could see how great we looked.

Well done everyone. I couldn’t fit in everyone’s photo so I decided to show the very youngest – and the very oldest – pyjama people!
