Primary 2S – Money Week
For Maths week Scotland, Primary 2S have been learning about money. We have been identifying and describing different coins and adding a variety of coins together.
Our knowledge of money is useful for our current topic, The Circus, as we are inviting the Primary 1 children to our Circus to see us perform. We have been making tickets and deciding how much we should charge for the show!
Maths Week Scotland Assembly
Today we had an assembly to share our learning during Maths Week Scotland.
Mr Sneddon joined us from Virtue Money to share with us the importance of Maths and Numeracy in every day life and for our future career paths. Virtue Money donated a free piggy bank and key ring to all our children to remind us why it is important to safe our money. A big thank you to Mr Sneddon for supporting us with our Developing the Young Workforce learning.
Our classes shared with us their learning during Maths Week which was all connected to their Interdisciplinary context for learning.

Maths Week in Nursery
This week we have been involved with the school in Maths Week. We have been learning about numbers, sorting, counting and language of measure. Miss Young helped us to make a game in the nursery where we had to search for numbers up to number 10. Miss Young hid them all around the nursery and then we had to find them. We were able to identify all the numbers we found! We then searched all around the school in the library, the classrooms and found lots and lots of numbers in Mrs Campbell’s room! In the nursery we have been using our loose parts (shells, cork, keys, stones) to sort and match objects. We set up special maths table to learn about long/short, big/small, time and money. On Friday we joined the school for assembly learning how important maths is a subject and how we can save our money.
