Rebecca and Ceira in P7 have been using their break times to run a singing club. The video below shows one of the songs they have learned and they are going to sing it at assembly on Friday.

Well done to the girls and the group!

Book Week Scotland with P2C and P2S

This week P2 were gifted a Read Write Count bag each with lots of goodies for numeracy and literacy. Each pupil received their own copy of ‘Open Very Carefully’ by Nick Bromley and ‘A Tale of Two Beasts’ by Fiona Robertson as well as a snakes and ladders game and finger puppets.

P2C and P2S came together along with visiting parents to roleplay with the puppets, play the game and to make their own beast masks.

It was great to see so many people playing, making and reading together.

P2S Book Week

This week Primary 2S received their Read, Write, Count bags to take home. Each bag contained 2 books, snakes and ladders and finger puppets!

In class, we read one of our Read, Write, Count books,  A Tale of Two Beasts by Fiona Roberton.  In the story there are lots of things that the beast isn’t happy about – we shared our ideas then wrote about a day out that the beast would love and one that he would hate!

Reading Passports

As part of the First Minister’s Reading Challenge and to celebrate Book Week Scotland, each pupil will be given their own reading passport to keep in school.

When a pupil reads a book, a page in the passport is filled out with the title, author, rating and a few sentences/pictures about the book.  This is a great way for pupils to keep a record of what they have read, challenge themselves and to foster a love of reading.  At the back of the passport, a chart can be stamped or signed when a book is completed.  When their chart is completed they will receive a special certificate to recognise their achievement.

If your child reads a book at home, please write (or have your child write) the title and author of the book in their diary and sign it – this can be transferred to their chart and they can complete the page at school.

This week, remember to send in photographs of pupils and/or families reading in unusual places and these will be displayed and celebrated in school and at our assembly on Friday.

Thank you for your continued support.  We look forward to hearing about all the books the children are reading.

Families Learning Together/Sharing the Learning

Dear parents/carers,
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Families Learning Together/Sharing the Learning event this Thursday (22nd November).  If you have not filled out a return slip or need a replacement, please just let us know.
You are invited to visit your child’s class between 2.15-3.00 to find out what exciting things they have been learning about.  If you have more than one pupil with us at the school, please use the time 2.15-3.00 to visit each class.

We would also like to invite you to view your child’s work in our dining hall – we are offering two drop-in sessions for this – 1.30-2.15 and 3.15-4.00.  This is an excellent opportunity to chat with your child about their targets and next steps in learning.
We ask that at 3 pm, parents/carers pop in the gym hall to complete a very quick evaluation form and then leave via the main office door.   From there, parents/carers can walk around and collect pupils from the playground at 3.15 as normal.  This allows for the safe dismissal of all pupils.
Thank you for your continued support.  We look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Children in Need 2018

Today we came to school dressed down in spots, yellow, like Pudsey or in our own clothes to raise money for Children in Need. We also donated lots of toys, games, home baking and books to a bring and buy sale. All our efforts raised a massive £402.65 for CIN … A huge amount! Well done who everyone who contributed to raise this fantastic amount.
