On Tuesday 4th June some pupils from P5, P6 & P7 attended the West Lothian Primary Triathlon at Deans CHS. The children had a great day! They had to swim, cycle and run as fast as they could with quick transitions between each activity. After the triathlon, they participated in some other fun activities including hammer throw and tug of war. Every child received a medal for their efforts and the school received a certificate. Well done to all who attended!

On Wednesday 12th June some children from the Cosy Corner will be hosting a Cosy Cafe in the dinner hall at break. All P1s, P2s and P7s are invited. It will cost 50p for some biscuits and a cup of diluting juice. We will also have music and a raffle. Raffle tickets are 20p each or 3 for 50p. We hope to see you there!
Dear Parent/Carer,
We would like to invite you to view a short film on Thursday 20th June at 6pm. The film is about resilience in children, an issue that many schools across West Lothian have been focussing on and will continue to focus on in the coming sessions. The film, which has already been shown to many of our professionals in education and health, aims to provide an understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the impact that these can have on children and their education.
We will also screen a children’s film in the hall where children of primary school age will be supervised to allow adults to attend the resilience film screening in the P7 classroom. Tea and coffee will also be available.
In order to help us to plan catering and supervision requirements, please look out for a letter coming home with your child and return the slip if you can attend.
We look forward to welcoming you then.
All the children in P1-P7 created a piece of writing for the West Lothian Council Stellar Writing Competition (previously known as Young Writer of the Year).
Our Literacy Leaders had the difficult task of selecting the best piece of writing for each class, and then an overall winner for the school.
On Thursday 6th May at 2:30pm, we will have a special Star Writer Assembly to celebrate and announce those children who have been selected (the children don’t know). Parents/ carers of these children have been informed but everyone is invited to the assembly. We look forward to seeing you!
As part of our ‘Developing the Young Workforce’ curriculum, P7 and P5 recently attended a careers fair at Almondvale Stadium. They visited lots of different stalls to take part in practical activities and spoke to lots of different people with interesting jobs. Some of the careers they learned about included:
-catering (making sugar decorations, lemonade and ice cream)
-the building trade (using a digger simulator)
-I.T. (using virtual reality goggles)
-science (key hole surgery demonstration)
-cosmetics (making a bath bomb)
Well done P7 and P5 for representing our school so well!
