Primary 3/2

It has been another busy week for Primary 3/2. We started the week by learning some Scottish vocabulary. In pairs we had to go around the classroom finding Scottish words written on post-it notes. Once we had found them all we arranged them in alphabetical order before using the ipads to find out their meanings.

On Wednesday we played a word association game to warm our brains up before creating a mind map of things we knew about Scotland. We managed to go all the way round the class with everyone saying a word that they thought linked with the previous word. Here is what we came up with:

We have finished the week by creating some Acrostic Poems about Scotland and `Nessie.

Keep up the hard work everyone! Miss McGregor 🙂

Primary 1

Primary 1 have been revising their sounds and numbers to check where we are with our learning.

Last week we were learning about New Year and the different ways it is celebrated around the world.

We made 2024 calendars to take home as a gift for our family. We worked with a partner to practise our cutting skills, making a collage  with old Christmas cards.

As part of our Scots focus we have been learning some Scottish songs and have also been given a choice of a short Scots poem to learn that we will get the chance to recite in class on Friday.

Primary 3/2

Happy New Year everyone! It has been a busy first week back for Primary 3/2.

On Monday some of the boys worked together during their free play time to build this tower out of Kapla. It was so tall they had to enlist the help of Mrs O’Neill to help them put the last few pieces on the top.

In numeracy we have been putting the addition strategies we learned last term into good use by trying to solve some missing number addition problems. We have been using ten and twenty frames as well as number lines to help us count on to find the missing number.

Before we move on to subtraction next week we have been consolodating our number bonds to 10 and 20 in a variety of ways, including completing this number bonds to 20 matching task.

In literacy we have been busy practising our common words and have been posting lots of our work on to Seesaw . Please make sure to check in on that to see what else we have been up to. If anyone needs new sign in codes for seesaw please just let me know and I can sort them for you.

Thanks, Miss McGregor 🙂

Primary 6 Update

Hello everyone,

A reminder that class talks will take place on the day you have selected this week (Monday-Thursday). You must come prepared ensuring you have your personal project jotter with you, whatever you need for your class talk (eg props, powerpoint, pictures etc) and making  sure you have practised at least once to a member of your household – this helps to get rid of the nerves!

I am looking forward to listening to all of your talks.

Thanks,

Miss W

Primary 6 Update

The week beginning Monday 18th December 2023 (the last week of term) we will be completing class talks. The children have been completing personal projects this term where they have explored a topic they are interested in.

They will be assessed on their talking and listening skills through a class talk. The children will be able to sign up for these on Monday 11th December 2023 in class.

The criteria has been posted on our Teams page for everyone to see.

Any questions please get in touch.

Primary 1

Primary 1 enjoy regular visits to the Community Library. Our lovely Librarian, Diane read “Superhero Hotel” this week. Here are some of our favourite parts of the story:
B: “I liked when they got thrown in the sky.”
A: “When they were all snoring.”
H: “When Mr Invisible got caught with the net.”

As part of our Fairyland topic, we completed another challenge this week. This time we helped Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Through our block play we had to build another chair for the bears, to replace the one that Goldilocks broke. We made our own bear puppets and sequenced the events of the story into the right order.

P6 Weekly Update

This week we created a piece of Christmas artwork to be displayed outside Miss Finlayson’s office.

Miss Walkingshaw’s challenged us to re-create the ‘Grinch Pinch’ from her favourite movie – The Grinch. We focused on texture, colour and detail when creating our pieces of artwork. We also ran a separate competition which was to design the best Grinch.
