JRSO Parksmart poster winners

At today’s Assembly we heard who had won the Poster competition organised by the JRSOs. Here are the winning designs which will be adapted into posters for display around our school, to encourage everyone to park smart or to travel to school without the car.

Well done to Sophie, Bayleigh, Kyle, Bailey, Molly, Nia, Freya, and Jonathan.

P6 Weekly Blog

This week we picked our Junior Road Safety Officers. They are Eilidh Anderson and Ellie Brown.  We have also picked new Eco reps. They are Hollie Brown and James Halliday. We are enjoying our visits to the nursery to meet our nursery buddies and we have been busy writing our buddies a letter to tell them all about us. We are still working on our magazine about our local areas. We are developing our ICT skills to make sure we can lay out the page properly.

P1 & P1/2 Turn Masterchef

This week, Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 have turned into little chefs! We had a very busy afternoon on Monday – making soup, butter and bread!

We used cutting and chopping skills to help make four different soups from ingredients we had chosen ourselves – Leek & Potato, Lentil & Vegetable, Tomato & Sweet Potato and Borsch. We also made four different flavours of bread – Plain, Rosemary, Cheese & Chive and Seeded. We used our data handling skills to find the most popular choices for each, which were Tomato & Sweet Potato soup and Plain soda bread. We plan to make them again to let other people try!

We have also started preparing for our assembly, which will take place on Thursday 12th June at 1.15pm. Put it in your diaries :)!

Until next time..

Primary 4

This week Primary 4 learnt how to find the area of a shape within Maths. We talked about when we might use this skill in later life and came up with examples such as buying and fitting a carpet or working out whether you have enough space for a new piece of furniture. Can you work out the area of the shapes below by counting the squares or multiplying the length by the breadth?

P6 Weekly Blog

We have been learning how to carry out emergency actions when we find someone who is not breathing.  We have enjoyed learning these vital life saving skills. In music we have been singing rounds and learning to follow a music map to play percussion instruments. Our next steps is to add in tuned instruments and we hope to be able to sing, play percussion instruments and tuned instruments all at the same time!

Primary 2

This week we have been learning about our class, school and local communities.  We talked about people who help us in each of these communities and how it is important to be a responsible citizens in them.  We used speech bubbles to show children being responsible citizens in the playground.  In art we used pattern to create letters for our class display and used print to create fire engines.

P1 & P1/2 Get Growing

This week, Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 have been looking at food journeys. First of all, we looked at how milk makes its journey from the farm all the way to our fridges at home (ask us to explain it to you!).

On Friday, we began to think about how vegetables grow and come from the farm to us. We got ‘green-fingered’ and planted lots of different vegetable seeds (carrots, peppers, sweetcorn, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli and leeks). We are looking forward to seeing how they grow!

We have left our seeds in our library corridor/greenhouse, so keep an eye out for any shoots peeking through!

Until next time…
