WOW!  We are so proud of our communities for the huge amount of food that has been donated for the West Lothian foodbank.  These very generous donations show how warm and caring a pair of communities we have here in Pumpherston and Uphall Station.  Thank you.  We will be sharing this warm community spirit this afternoon at our Harvest Assembly – 2:15pm  – we look forward to seeing you there if you can make it.

As part of our topic we have been learning about ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses. We created a fact file about our chosen god or goddess. We had to write a fact about our god or goddess and draw a detailed picture of them. Here are some of our factfiles. How many Egyptian gods or goddesses do you know?
A reminder that we are collecting food donations for the West Lothian Foodbank. Â We greatly appreciate any donations to help this worthwhile charity. Â Please ensure that they are in school for the Harvest Assembly tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday) at 2:15. Â You are welcome to attend.

In Art this week, P1/2 have been exploring using different printing techniques to create pictures.
At the start of the week, we went out to have a look at the trees around the school grounds and took turns to take photographs of them. We noticed that although many of the trees were still green, some were beginning to change into different colours for autumn. When we got back to class we used our fingers to print the many colours of the leaves with paint.
We also investigated using fruit and vegetables for printing. Here are some of the images we created:
Our first Families Learning Together session was a great success with a fantastic turnout.
There was a real buzz in the room and everyone loved having the chance to spend time talking to their child about learning.
Look out for the next session at 2pm on 16 November.

Charlie: ‘I enjoyed learning how to round to the nearest 100.’
Cerys: ‘I enjoyed subtracting using hundreds numbers and stealing.’
Presley: ‘I enjoyed trying to solve the murder mystery of who murdered Mary, Queen of Scots’ husband.’
Lucas: ‘I enjoyed taking away using chimney sums.’
Lauren: ‘I enjoyed mixing colours to paint my portrait of Mary, Queen of Scots.’
Boe: ‘I enjoyed discussing the murder mystery with my group and using evidence to solve it.’
Lachlan: ‘I enjoyed getting 40/40 two weeks in a row for Big Maths.’
James: ‘I enjoyed building my model market stall.’

This week, Primary 5 finished their portraits of Mary, Queen of Scots.
We had been learning about the different ways that we could apply paint (dabbing, scratching, swirling brush strokes) and how to create highlights/shadows. We were trying to create the most detailed pictures we could. What do you think? Which Mary is most marvellous?

We have been learning all about mummification!
When ancient Egyptians  died they made them into a mummy ready for the afterlife. Ancient Egyptians believed there was an afterlife after you died.
