Pumphie Pals – What is bullying?

As part of our focus this term on anti-bullying, Pumphie Pals groups asked themselves questions about bullying.

Here pupils from Almond 1, Breich 1 and Calder 1 considered “WHAT IS BULLYING?”

Watch the video of our Tree Planting Day

Thank you so much to everyone who turned up this afternoon for our tree planting.  The weather was very kind to us and we had a fantastic time with a great community atmosphere.

Properly protected and cared for, the trees we planted today will enhance the appearance and safety of your school for generations to come and provide rich and exciting learning experiences for your children.

Our Local Area

Pumpherston used to be a mining village and is on the edge of Livingston. We found this out when we were learning about our local area.  We wrote reports and organised our information using subheadings.

We looked at Google Maps to find the school, the shops, takeaways, parks and train stations, then we created our own maps. Most of the class found it quite tricky because some places didn’t show on the map, this was because our map was missing lots of information.img_0592

Now we are looking at co-ordinates and directional instructions.  We learnt that a quarter turn was 90 degrees and a full turn was 360 degrees.  We played the game Turtle Pond and Battleships to help us.

Christmas Jumper Day

christmas-jumpers

Thursday 15 December is our Christmas Lunch day in school.  We try to make it as fun and festive as possible with music and decorations.

This year we have decided that it would be a good day to have as a CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY so that we are all dressed in the mood for the season.  We will post some photos of the chaos afterwards!

Singalong

Our nursery boys and girls have been working hard to learn Christmas songs for their Singalong on the 15th December. Some children were very excited to tell me that they had being doing their homework – singing the songs at home with an adult. Beautiful voices can be heard coming from the nursery and I am looking forward to hearing them on the 15th.

PUSCPS choir

We have had a very successful year this year with the school choir. We were recorded for the West Lothian council facebook page, we opened the school fair, we sang for the passengers at Edinburgh airport and raised some money for the school and we entertained the staff, patients and visitors at St John’s hospital.

Thank you to everyone who joined the choir this year.
