P2/3 Health week

We have had a fantastic Health week with lots of different activities.

Kyle – We have enjoyed having healthier snacks this week.

Ethan -I enjoyed learning Judo and Karate. I really liked the games in Judo and getting to punch the dummy in Karate.

Ellie C – I really liked Sports Day because we get to try different things.

Bailey – I liked learning the Golf skills when you got to aim for the targets.

Calum – We learned about how many teaspoons of sugar were in different fizzy drinks. We were surprised by how much was in each drink.

We have had a fun week with lots of activities and learning about different ways to keep healthy. Have a lovely long weekend off.

This has been a great week and we’ve been outside a lot as the weather has been fantastic.

Ava F – We have started a new class novel, James and the Giant Peach and we are enjoying it so far.

Summer – In Art we were learning how to mix tones of the same colour. we learned how to make a primary colour lighter and darker.  I brought in a tulip because it showed dark and light tones on the petals.

Aaron – We are using our class sweet shop and enjoying the role play and maths in this area.  I like working out how much to pay for the sweets.

Calum – We have been writing a story about a pirate cove and in my story was about a bad pirate and three good pirates.  My main character was Josh the pirate and his ship was blown up.

Abbie – We have been using coins to make different amounts in Maths. This will help us when we are older for going shopping, paying bills, for jobs in shops and using money and for checking we have got the right amount from the bank.

Next Tuesday is our Learning walk and we will need to make sure we all have suitable jackets and shoes depending on the weather.  Next week is also our Health week so we are all, including Mrs Andison, going to try and bring healthy snacks for the week.

Have a great weekend

This week has been a very strange week weather wise – snow in April!

The highlights of our learning this week are:

Our class sweet shop is set up ready to use with all the sweets we made last term and we can’t wait to use it – Mischa

We have begun learning about our senses and we went outside, between snow showers, to listen to the sounds in different parts of the school playground.  We talked about why different sounds were heard in different areas – Darcy

We started our new topic by working in groups to discuss what the school may need for the children from the new houses – Daniel

In Maths we have been revising the name of 3D shapes and describing their properties – Abbie, as well as greater than and less than a given number – Calum

We are looking forward to Monday and Tuesday off so lets hope for some good weather.

Have a great weekend

Great to be back with P2/3

We are so happy to be back for our final term in P2/3.  This week we have been beginning to learn the 10x table (Daniel) in maths as well as revising our number bonds and the 2x and 5x tables (Ava B).

We have been learning about what babies need (Ellie G) as well as looking at baby animals that are like their parents and others that are not like their parents like caterpiller/butterfly, ladybird,  flat fish and frog (Ava F, Abbie, Maja)

We wrote an imaginative story about a giant using the skills we have been learning (Mia).

We are looking forward to the weekend – hope you are too.

P2/3 Learning

This past week has been busy with lots of great learning.  We have been making decisions in groups and as a class to decide on a name for our class sweet shop and for the logo to be used along with it.  We had to listen to each other’s ideas in a group and use criteria to decide on the logo.  Our shop will be named Sweet Stall Surprise. The name was created by Rosa and the logo that we voted on was created by Ethan.  All the ideas were fantastic for the names and the logos.

We are almost finished painting our sweets to use and are about to set up the shop – we can’t wait.  The models for our home work were due in today and they are fantastic!  Look out for photos on the blog later this week.

Mrs Andison is looking forward to seeing all the parents at Parent nights this week.

Primary 2/3 Learning

This week has been great fun.  We have begun to start making sweets for our class sweet shop.  We are making them out of salt dough which we made ourselves by following a recipe, mixing and kneeding the dough.  We worked in groups to create ideas for the sweet names, ideas for the name of the shop and logos, as well as cutting out shapes for the sweets.  Next week we will finish making the sweets, decide on a name for our shop and a logo to go with it.  We can’t wait to start using the shop.  We are using lots of Maths skills for our shop.  We have used measuring for our dough and we have discussed what skills we will need in the shop – using money, adding, subtracting and times tables.  We are going to have great fun.

Have a great weekend.

Primary 2/3 Learning

We have had a great week and have been learning more about chocolate and chocolate farming. This has linked to our learning about Fair trade and our class novel Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.  We have completed a very big piece of writing about the process of how chocolate is made and we have illustrated this.  In Art we sketched images of cacao beans and then used chalk pastels to add colour and line to our sketches.  They look very impressive.  We have been making plans for our very own class chocolate shop and we are looking forward to getting started on the shop.

Hope you are having fun helping to make the sweet rooms for our homework challenge.

Primary 2/3 Learning

Well it’s been a very short week for us this week but we have packed in a lot of learning.  We have learned where chocolate comes from and how it is made.  We used what we learned to write notes – this is tricky as we have to work out the main thing said in each section. Today we were learning how to turn our notes into sentences.  We will continue this next week.

In art we have been learning how to use mixed media to create images of kiwi fruit and we now have a fantastic display in class to show our great masterpieces.

While the Primary threes have been at Fun Fit, the Primary twos have been learning about nouns this week – ask me what a noun is.

We had a great assembly learning more about Fair Trade, which links in to our topic.  the company Lush came to tell us how they use Fair trade and gave us a chance to buy some small items.  The whole hall smelled lovely, just like bath bombs.

Look out for our special homework task next week.

Have a great weekend.

Primary 2/3 Learning

We are just in from our Daily Mile and it was very fresh this morning.  We are still enjoying this and are all feeling our fitness improving, including Mrs Andison.  In Handwriting we are learning how to join letters together.  In Art we have been working like artists.  We have been learning to sketch then adding blocks of colour and finally adding the fine detail. We have created fantastic images of kiwi fruits that we are very proud of.  We hope you will admire them at parents night which is coming up soon.  In Maths we have been continuing to learn to tell the time.  At home can you help me to learn to tell the time on a clock face.

Have a great few days rest.  Remember we are not back until Wednesday.
