Primary 3 Highland Games!

On Friday, Primary 3 enjoyed taking part in a ‘Highland Games’ event at Broxburn Academy. This was extra special as it had previously been postponed due to very windy weather. Here are some photos of them taking part in the various activities on the day. They were an absolute credit to our school, showing fantastic sportsmanship, and supporting their friends. Well done to all in P3, we are very proud of you!

Health Week 2018

Our Health Week was a great success at PUSCPS! During the week, we had lots of different visitors to our school and we learned a lot. We had instructors in judo, kuk sool won, as well as coaches from Linlithgow Rugby Club and active schools. All classes enjoyed ‘Bodyworks’ sessions with staff from Glasgow Science Centre – these comprised engaging science shows, interactive workshops and amazing exhibits, designed to teach children about the human body. Our school nurse also visited classes to teach the children about different ways to stay healthy. Each class had the opportunity to use the curling equipment and learned to prepare healthy food in class. Everyone enjoyed trying something new. Our sports day on the Thursday afternoon went very well – we even had a sunny day! First, there were potted sports and then each class selected races to compete in. On  the Friday morning, we rounded off our week with an assembly to celebrate all the learning (and fun!) that had taken place over the whole week. Each class was asked to present on their favourite activities.  The winning house from sports day was then announced. Well done to …. Almond!!

The ‘NED’ Show Assembly

We are fortunate to have The NED Show visiting our school on Wednesday 20th June. They will deliver an assembly that uses storytelling, humour, illusions, and yo-yo tricks to inspire and motivate children, to ‘Never Give Up’, ‘Encourage Others’, and ‘Do your Best’. Their 45 minute character assembly will promote positive attitudes and encourage children to do their best every day.  After the assembly (and for the week after), NED products will be available to buy. The attached letter will be sent home with children this week which give details of these.  Please note that there is absolutely no obligation on children to buy a yo-yo or any of the other products.

Primary 6 Transition Challenge

Well done to Primary 6 who today presented to Primary 5 to explain what life has been like for them as Primary 6 pupils! They worked in teams to use resources, discuss, brainstorm and collect ideas, before planning their presentations. They presented on the expectations, routines, responsibilities, learning experiences and ‘magic moments’ of Primary 6. By doing this, P6 were learning to help encourage learning and confidence in our P5 children, as well as supporting them as they prepare for their next stage at school. The children from Primary 5 were all very interested and asked lots of questions about life in Primary 6! Well done P6, it was a really excellent presentation.

P6 Health Week

Primary 6 have had another busy couple of days! They had the opportunity to prepare and eat some exotic fruits this morning and enjoyed curling this afternoon. Curling was great fun and the children worked well together in their teams to learn new skills.

Yesterday, they were busy with their ‘transition challenge’ – where they will be presenting to the new Primary 6 class to explain what life has been like in the past year for them at PUSCPS. They worked in teams and did a carousel activity to gather information, brainstorm and discuss their ideas. The next step will be to plan and present these to the current Primary fives.

P6 health week -day 1

We had a very busy day in Primary 6 today! We all enjoyed our judo session this morning and loved learning lots of new skills. In the afternoon, we went out to practise our skipping. The P7s have been teaching us lots of rhymes and skipping games, which are great for our health and fitness, as well as being a lot of fun!

West Lothian Schools Triathlon

A massive ‘well done’ to our pupils from p5, 6 and 7 who participated in the triathlon today! Mrs Dickie was extremely proud of them all! They were a real credit to our school and everyone had a great time. Lots of smiles in the sunshine!

Rookie Rockstars Concert!

Just a reminder that tomorrow (Thursday) is the night of our Rookie Rockstars concert at 6.30pm! Nearly all the tickets have been sold and we are looking forward to a great night. If your child is participating, please ensure you have completed a permission form and confirmed whether they are walking home alone or will be collected. As the concert is due to finish at 7.30pm, we have asked that all children from P1-5 are collected afterwards. Children can dress down or even come dressed as rockstars. Parents/carers are also invited to dress as rockstars, but no pressure to do so! Remember that we will have tea/coffee and refreshments available and our Parents as Partners will be running a raffle. You will also have the opportunity to order a PUSCPS Rookie Rockstars CD (that the children recorded last week). We are looking forwards to seeing you there!
