P2/1 are learning about ‘Growing’ this term. This week the children have been planting onions, peas and strawberries outdoors.

This week as part of our ‘Resilience’ topic we have been learning about cooperation.  In groups we created a cooperation drawing. We decided on a theme for our drawing e.g. a playground, garden or a space creature.  We sat in groups of around 4 children. The first person started off the picture and after a minute on a stop signal we passed the drawing to the next person .  Each person in the group had a turn to complete the picture. We discussed that sometimes it is difficult to cooperate and trust others to continue our work.

This week we have been continuing to explore subtraction using concrete materials with P1 and P2.
We have been learning about Easter and made Easter cards.
P2/1 Blog Week beginning 20.3.23
This week in numeracy we have continued to concentrate on subtraction (P1 within 10/P2 within 20). We have been exploring data handling in maths.
Primary 2 have discussed and written their ‘Evaluation’ for their Information Report on Kittens this week and P1 have been writing about bath time.
We made our regular visit to the library on Monday.
We have been exploring ‘Relationships’ as part of our Resilience learning. This week we talked about ‘In our family we like to…….’
We worked hard and performed our assembly on ‘France’. Well done to all of the children, you were fantastic! Thank you also to parents/carers and family for your support.

Primary 1 Blog Post 25.5.22
This week Primary 1 have been busy investigating ‘measure’. We used a range of non –standard objects to measure the lengths of items around our classroom e.g measuring with lego pieces, dominoes and pencils.
We are learning about farming and this week we took part in a STEM challenge to design and make a hen coop. We looked at a range of designs and talked about what hens would need inside their coops and also how to keep them safe from predators. We firstly designed our homes on paper and then began to make a 3D model. Watch this space!

This week Primary 1 have been learning about seeds and how they grow. We watched a short animation called ‘Peep plants a seed’ and then went on to plant our own sunflower seeds. We took our seeds home and will have a competition to see who can grow the tallest sunflower. Watch this space!
Primary 1 have been busy writing 2 part stories. We have been focusing on increasing the detail in our drawings, adding lines and patterns. We have also been learning about finger spaces and full stops. In our writing we have been trying hard to sound out words. Well done!

This week Primary 1 have been investigating ‘Cuisenaire rods’. Their challenge was to build a staircase.
We have been using word building lego to make cvc words during our literacy time.
In writing we have been writing a two part story. We have been focusing on patterns in our drawings, having a go at writing new words and finger spaces.
