On the last day of term, Friday 30th June we will be having our annual “Silly Summer Dress up” to raise funds for Magale school in Uganda. Children should wear their summer clothes on this day. If they want to be extra silly, clothes can be worn inside out or back to front! £1 donation for dress down. Ice lollies will be on sale for 30p on this day, which will also go towards Magale funds.
P1
Primary 1 have enjoyed all the different activities that they have taken part in for health week.
Kayden: I liked food tasting in the cosy corner. I liked how the onion tasted.
Layla: I liked the relaxation room as I got to shut my eyes when we were listening to the voice.
Ola: We were gardening and I got to plant sunflowers and potatoes and I liked it.
As part of our Farming topic this week, Primary 1 have also been learning about the journey of milk and the journey of sheep from farm to fork.

Primary 1 performed their assembly today all about life cycles. The class had a great time sharing their learning. Thank you to all the parents and carers for coming to support us. Here is what some of the class said about our assembly:
Sophie-Rose: I loved doing the crazy frog dance.
Jack: I enjoyed pretending to be a caterpillar.
Kayden: I felt excited!

Goodbye Chicks!
Primary 1 said goodbye to the baby chicks this morning. They are now going to live on a farm. It has been great fun having them in our classroom and seeing them grow and change. It has helped us learn a lot about the life cycle of a chicken.
Jack: I liked when they got excited when we put the food in.
Ruby: I got to give the chicks fresh water.
Finlay: They made me laugh when they jumped on the bowl.
P1 Baby Chicks
Primary 1 have been very excited this week about the arrival of our chick eggs. 9 eggs arrived in their incubator on Monday. Nothing happened until Thursday when 6 chicks hatched! On Friday morning, another baby chick had arrived. So far we have 4 girls and 3 boys. We moved the chicks from the incubator into the brooder box this morning. We made sure to have fresh food and water ready for the chicks before we moved them.
Primary 1
Primary 1 have reflected on their learning this week – here is what we have been learning.
Ruby: We have been learning about life cycles. A butterfly starts as an egg.
Sophie Rose: The egg turns into a caterpillar and it eats it’s own shell. It then turns into a Pupa, then it turns in a butterfly.
Jack: In Maths we have been learning about odd and even numbers. The number 3 is odd and 4 is even because it has a friend.
Caitlin: I know about having a growth mindset. If I can’t do something, I say I can’t do it “yet”.
Primary 1
As part of our Katie Morag topic, we went for a walk around Pumpherston so that we could compare services found in Pumpherston with those found on Katie Morag’s Isle of Struay. We then created a list comparing the different services found in each place. Primary 1 voted on which place they would rather live, Struay or Pumpherston. Everyone voted for Pumpherston!
Primary 1
Primary 1 have been learning how to double numbers this week. We have been using strategies such as counting on our fingers or drawing pictures to find the answer. In writing, we have been learning how to use adjectives. We all wrote about one of our classmates, using adjectives to describe them. This is what Sophie-Rose wrote about Ola:
Ola has brown hair and she has a pony tail. Ola has brown pretty eyes. Ola has ladybug earings. She has a dress and white top. Ola is helpful. I like playing doctors with Ola.
Primary 1
This week in Science, Primary 1 have been learning about our 5 senses. We drew what our favourite thing was to taste, smell, touch, see and hear. We also learned about how the different parts of the eye work. We labelled a picture of an eye showing the pupil and iris.
